Awakening

Awakening

A Poem by Starling

On the breaking of a new dawn

Freedom is found within the depths of sound

Waves will multiply, the air growing thin

Our bodies still as we breathe from within

Shake off the crust, our outer shell

The ice has thawed from under our feet

Sink in deeper until we're one with the heat

The last vestige of what we've been

Is swept from memory but a salvaged grin

Our skins bear the scars of diminishing light

In a temporal pathway hidden from sight

Where time has lost its place

To the freedom of an anti-space

Nameless and drunk

The ecstasy shakes us, the power reeling

We slowly descend, altering feeling

Crashing like waves of sand into a salty sea

A beach drowning in contradiction, flowing free

No lesser forms exist

There is only one

and one is all

around us.
