Dystopia

Dystopia

A Poem by Starling

Ashes to ashes, metal to rust

A stinging pang of regret

A life long lost, a crumbling debt

Be gone all devils,

Be gone all the saints

In these red rivers flowing

No heroes live

This is no place for worship

As the crows shriek over the dead

Behold our future, now oblique

Silent prayers drowned in seas of red

Step back into your place in line

The deserters, the betrayers

A nation where darkness has set root deep within

And the powerless obey to the rules of the masses

Seeking gold in the dark of their souls

Once you do good, you do evil

Ingrained into our systems

In these dried up rivers of sand

No heroes live no more
