phantom frailty

phantom frailty

A Poem by Julia Squires

i'm the darker side of something else
that needs to be expressed

a lighter shade of what can't be seen
tucked tight inside my chest

securing now the waking width
of secret seams upon my dress

removing grafted shards of glass
to wander toward the west

the night is drained of all it's made
the sun is black when sunlight sets

i'm frail and pale as phantom fear
trembling at others' behest

i need to be something new

If you deliberately used lowercase for the personal pronoun, you've applied it brilliantly.

I do feel, though, that the final, proactive sentence should use a capitalized personal pronoun for great impact.
