Cross the Clouds

Cross the Clouds

A Poem by Julia Squires
"

This is one of my most popular poems on deviantART, and it really does read like a pop song...I'm not very fond of it anymore, but I hope it's inspirational for anyone in a bad place in life.

"

I'll call it cloud-hopping, my campaign against
The life I know right now. I will jump and leap,
Strain my legs, from sky to sky I go.
By night or by day, I still feel my feet,
Beating like a heart upon puffs of white.
And if they turn grey, or darker yet,
The wind still rushes by me.

Close your eyes, feel it wash over,
Making your lashes flutter.
Like a dream, you cross over
To another shade of real.
You're here and alive, don't ever forget
What it means to race the wind.

The loss, understand me, is ever-present,
Felt forever. But please, don't reject
A chance to stitch time's wounds.
Get back on your feet, chase your chance skyward,
Pursue it from cloud to cloud.

The thunder may boom in your ears,
The lightning may blind your eyes,
But as long as you keep moving--
Even if you can't move--
You will conquer the storm in the end.

For you are a storm yourself,
Speaking with thunder's voice.
Your tongue is quick as lightning,
And the peace you need
Is at your center.

Cross the clouds,
And catch your chance.
