TravelA Poem by QuinnA re-working of an older poem of mine from back in July 2014 entitled "A ticket to anywhere" - (http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/StarlightPoetry/1378767/).This is going to sound cliché
as f**k But I want to see the
world, travel, I want to be awestruck I want to lose myself in
cities, whilst finding who I am I want to spend nights
on beaches, and sleep on the sand
I mean I really want to
go to space but Singapore will do, just so long as I see
Turkey, Brazil, and Stockholm too And even if I do get
lost or lonely, I know that I’ll see it through Cos all my body wants to
do is travel and explore everything new
Let me stumble over
phrases, struggle with currency and signs Let me try and follow a
map, trace along random lines
I want jabs to protect
me from more than just the flu I’ll take 10 shots for
Nigeria, Burkino Faso and many more too
I love my home, don’t
get me wrong, and here there’s much more to see Direct me to the
Shetland Ilse and I will feel like I’m free
I want to see what
people have built across the globe The grand architecture,
the cities, the homes I want to experience
what’s forged in nature From the tops of
mountains to the bottom of valleys where little roams
Let me see history
carved before me Let me see the memories
of lust Let me see the remnants
of love, peace, and war among the dust
Give me a ticket to
anywhere I’ll pack my bag and I’ll
go The world is vast and
wide And it’s where I want to
go
