This City

This City

It’s this city

It’s this city that makes me keep going keep moving that makes me keep walking along those pavements those roads

It’s this city. It my place my life and when I leave it I feel lost

But I remember it’ll be there when I get back that my friends, my family, they’ll be there

The green of the walk each day, the cold wet slabs beneath my worn and tired feet

It’s this city this life that makes every moment every feeling joy and sadness it’s this city making it like a story for me that keeps going all the time

It’s this city it’s the rivers that keep my story going that rush through my veins pushing more

It’s this city the air so full of life and movement, although smokey it’s still better than the rest

This city might be where I smoke the most, where I drink the most, where I f**k up the most but because I’m in this city, I feel good, great  and although these all take moments, minutes, hours even from me, this city gives me more

It’s this city that gives me every opportunity to give up but has held me back it’s the way it grabs me pulls me in

Every walk down the beaten track along the lines I trace each day, because I can’t control where I put my feel it’s all new

It’s this f*****g city man

This city’s my home and I don’t plan to leave

people are often feeling they need to leave wherever they are...that the surroundings cause the bad things, take away from the good things...but we are who we are no matter where we exist...

this reminds me of a line in an elton john song..."change a full blooded city boy into a full blooded city man"---

where we are isn't necessarily who we are, and vice-versa...we belong where we belong...it is part of us.

Thank you, very true.
Love this! I really like the lack of commas; it makes it a more quick-paced read, perhaps mimicking the city life?
Thanks :)

PS just realized it was "spoken poetry"... Definitely great for that!
