The useless lifeguard

The useless lifeguard

A Poem by Quinn

I can see them drowning around me
Suffering
Being pulled down
Suffocating
under guilt
pain
sorrow

Every word and memory
forcing them deep
Tangling
becoming restricted
stimulating
new ache
trouble
weakness

Day by day sucking away
Taking
Bringing more in
Stacking
Every second
hour
day

I can see them drowning around me
Suffering
I'm the useless lifeguard
Because
I'm drowning
as
well
