Progression through lifeA Poem by QuinnThere is a figure who looks after From birth she just watches She just followed with parent But then when you get out of school She took me by the hand He pale white figure Leading me through life Through the forest Lead by a hand Then when that was over She lead me to a crossing To take a different path She stroked my face and Turned away To lead another here I took one step forward Now it was up to me Learning to walk all over again Just like One Two Three The ground felt slippy Ready to let me fall But I’d been taught To look straight ahead Look where you’re going So that when you need to see Just how far you’ve come You’ll turn around and see The path never seems to get lighter It never seems to clear But turn around You’ll see Just where you’ve come from Just where you’ve been Step forward Take chances But never forget It gets lighter the further out you go So don’t be afraid to jump
