Land of the Free

Except for the hundreds of years we kept black slaves,

 but it's ok they are "free" now and in know way still being subjected to systematic racism and slavery.

All men are created equal

unless you are a person of color, native,

 gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, or a woman.

Home of the Brave

Brave men and women who fought a war and come home still fighting it in their minds,

 waiting for help that never comes.

Give me your tired and your poor

But we in no way want to help you, we don't like our taxes feeding you

 and you need to quit being lazy and get a job.

We no longer want your huddled masses, your homeless, 

you may be a terrorist or here illegally and will steal our jobs and kill us

 even though you are fleeing people that would kill you.

We've exstenguished the lamp,

 Lady Liberty is crying, 

ashamed to realize the golden door was nothing

 other than Iron Pyrite.

No perfect country.

USA had tripped many times. But without the USA. China, Germany and Russian would rule the world. What would We be? Being a leader is hard. Every decision had a balance of good and bad. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry. Made the reader think. Goal of the writer.
