Have you ever wondered how the sky stays true to itself, it
changes colours from night to dawn but never seems to fade away. Have you ever
wondered what makes your true identity, and not something that keeps fading
away? It's what makes you the real you and not the mask you wear to cover it.
To me I believe my identity, is the melody that runs through my soul and
reflects how I feel. I think of my identity as a painting of emotions that I
use to express myself. Or the beautiful drawings that are not drawn with ink
but simply, drawn with my heart.
I know for sure that I am not a sculpture that people carve out of me but, a creative
sculpture which I carve out of myself. As those people try to vanquish my
courage to show the world my true colours, they take away what makes me special
from the rest. That's why I must search far and wide, to find out what makes my
personal best.
I know I don't have the same abilities or skills as the rest, I know I may not
see the world through the same eyes as the rest. However, I do know that the
negligence of others won’t let me put my guard down in the fight of finding who
I am.
From the time I was born till the date of my death, I shall strive to make
myself proud of whom I really am.
But for now I must seek though the meadows and storms of life to discover the
answer to the question of my role in life.
This speaks to me of life's gauntlet. We as part of the modern race of man go through many gauntlets along our journey. Your ink speaks of going through the first, where one must walk through the oppression and judgement of close friends and family. It also transitions to the knowledge that a larger gauntlet looms ahead on the horizon of life. It is one everyone must go through, for it's challenges that lead to both success and failure, make us who we are, defining our very nature. While we have the power to control our speed, or angle of passage and our reactions, we have limited power to keep life from throwing boulders and trees into our pathway.
It is the synthesis of both our own desires and outside challenges that ultimate define our roll. It is why we never give up, for if we do, then we become beaten by life and walk not of our own will.
Great Ink!

Very beautiful way to think of life... searching for a way to find myself, along the way carving life with my own two hands, living life with every powerful emotion I've got true to the heart, and striving through the hardships to see what defines me... my role in life :) Loved this piece, well penned indeed!!!

Hi I'm stargirl, I'm 14 years old and I love to write poetry. I don't enjoy poetry that rhymes and all those kid-ish kinds but the one that set your emotions free and make you feel something beautiful.. more..
