and if i didn't know any better i might have loved you

and if i didn't know any better i might have loved you

A Poem by Paige Pino

You're the color of nightmares
that flash of a forgotten dream
you're smoke left behind in my lungs
and if i think too hard about you
i forget how to breathe
you're not real
you're not real
and for the most part i don't want you to be
but i search for you anyways
for the cruel twist of you're smile
that gleam of your sharp teeth
i look for it everywhere
in the reflections in a stranger's eye
in the shadows of passing cars
because you're not real
and i really don't want you to be
but i missed that feeling you gave me
that little hitch in my chest
thatone could almost mistake
for my dead heart beating
