Thunder Mountain

Thunder Mountain

A Poem by Sarah L
"

Thunder Mountain, also known as Greyback, is a mountain visible from Sedona, Arizona

"

Thunder Mountain

The Grand Piano

Near the Devil’s Kitchen

Plays a melody of romance

For lovers on Thunder Mountain

In days past and a century past

Hand holding, love growing

In the vortexes of the heart

For those who’ve been before

And cannot depart

Ever roaming the red rocks

Some with Haversack

Who couldn’t go back

After the Rebellion

Some on their way to Tucson

Where winters are warm

To dry out the lungs

Now lie silent in graves unmarked

At the foot of Thunder Mountain
