Chapter 4 of Kyda's World

"

"Well let's start at the beginning shall we?"
Grandmother or not, I felt so safe with this woman,
and I was very eager to finally have some answers. I
smiled, so she continued.
"Thousands of years ago my great-grandmother, whom
shares your name; Kyda, lived in Aarde (Earth). She
was an Alfer, part of the fairie. One day she met a
Menselik, or human man. They fell in love, but of
course this was forbidden for the Alver. Her love
begged her to run away with him, but she always
refused, because she didn't know if she would survive.
Alvers are the guardians of the animals, and would
start to fade if not near their elements. Unsure but
in love Kyda went to the Greater Elder. He had lived
so long that no one remembered his age."
"When finally granted a audience with the Greater
Elder, she presented her dilemma, and was told that
the only way to live with her love was to create her
own world between worlds."
"This had never been done before, and of course
neither Kyda nor the man knew how to create another
world. They worked and researched spells, old text and
even asked the other elders of both their villages. No
one knew the answers. Then Kyda's sister suggested
she ask the Chernobog. The Chernobog was a fearsome
spirit that had been around from the beginning of
time. He knew everything that there was to know, every
spell, and how to capture gods. Calling on him was
frowned upon, but Kyda was desperate."
"Kyda knew magic from all her studying, therefore was
the only one that could cast the spell to call the
Chernobog. Casting the spell was difficult but she was
able to bring the spirit to her world. He shook the
ground, brought a storm, laid ruin to parts of the
village."
I stared at her in awe, the tale she wove brought
visions to my head. I felt like I had been there,
feeling everything that my namesake felt. I knew that
Kyda had not wanted the destruction that she had
brought upon her home. I felt the strength of her love
for the mortal man, whose name I still did not know.
But there was also another feeling. Hostility from her
sister. Part of me wondered if Kyda had felt it, or if
it was that I sensed it from my own twin. Queen Asidis
continued on...
