The Demons ViolinA Chapter by StarSandwich
"Follow me" a voice called from beyond the trail, a voice so soft so calm it didn't sound familiar but it soothed me. But I pressed forward, just a short walk till I get back in town. I heard stories about demons in the mounting, not to go off the trail the elders says, evil terrifying seductive demons. They pray on young men or weak men from our village, no girl ever takes the trail on a night, because of the elders rule. I walked ignoring the slight rain that began to fall. "Come play with me" the soft voice called, I pulled up my cape hood and held it round me walking. Don't be tempted by the demons. Don't be tempted by the demons. I repeated to myself over and over but the little low voice broke though my meddling in my head. "Please play with me" I looked around, no one, just the trees and the thick untended grass. The animals all in hiding or asleep for the night that has just started. I decided to run, I sighed. I want to run away to the village, to my warm bed a fresh loaf of bread the dog Piddles to practice playing my violin so the elders can hear my music, so they'll like me so they will accept me.
"Hello, can you come and play with me?" A girl stood before me with a smile on her face, blond hair and a dazzling smile perfect teeth fair skin. She was young but wore such fine clothes. She held out her hand her blue eyes closed as she tilted her head to the side a cute smile. "Pleases" she begged opening her eyes giving me the cute puppy dog eye look. How could I refuse such a pretty little girl. I took her silky smooth hand, her skin paler then mine and her hair bounced as she ran pulling me off the trail in the direction of the mounting. "Where are we going?" I asked the little girl but she just laughed pulling me along. Such a strong child. "Where ar-" my voice cut off as we entered a clearing so beautiful. She let go of my hand and began to twirl. The Grass was white and the trees had lost there leaves in this small meadow it seemed like it was stuck in winter. Was this part of a demon curse, was this cute adorable child a demon? I shook the thought from my head, such a pretty little girl cannot be a demon, her hair long and blond so light it bounces a little black dress and small black shoes to match with little red stockings, this girl was cute and her eyes sparkled. Demons are hideousness and mean creation's. "Sister" she called me in such a little soft tone with tears welled up in her eyes. "Where is your sister?" I asked the little girl nicely "Missy can you play the violin?" The child asked looking up at me with watery blues eyes, I nodded and smile too her. "A little" I answered honestly. "Play me a song. Sister used to play it all the time play me a song. I never heard a melody since sister died" A tear fell her eyes as I nodded and let her fetch me the wooden violin from its case from under the no leaved tree now invaded with evil looking black birds. The little girls smiled. As I stood tall with the violin in my hand. I began the song I knew so well a tune anyone could play Tombigbee Waltz my much loved favorite piece. My eyes closed as I let myself get lost in the rheum of the music I played and played even as the song finished and repeated it again. My movements smooth my breathing soft and my foot tapped to the gentle beat. A strong wind blew my dress it smelt of roses so sweet and beautiful. When I stop playing the child no longer stood before me. A beautiful woman with tears in her eyes a matur vision of the child. Tears in her eyes that were filled with sorrow and evil smile on her lip. I glanced at the beautiful woman who stood before me in an intelligent dress that suited her. But she had black feathered crow wings out of her back and a devilish charm yet so beautiful. Her hand raised and I flinched back. I was fooled by a demon! My parents I will never see my dog Piddles wont be taken for a walk without me, I'll never play the violin again. Then I heard a clap. Followed by another and another. The beautiful demon clapped her hands in approve to my music and smiled with fangs bared. "Such sweet music, my sister would have loved to hear you play. But them young evil men killed her and that cursed me. I've waited years for someone to play the violin to my sister, to redeem her last wish so she can pass on" The demon woman sobbed in a harsh demanding tone. I could understand. Her sister? "I'll come back again and play for you again if you like" I asked smiling cheerful at the demon woman" "I would like that" she said with a smile and kissed my hand as she took the violin back. The demon woman led me to the trail and let me free from her gasp leaving a mark on my left hand where she kissed it. "If you do not return tomorrow, I will slay the village and kill them all and bring you to spend the rest of your days with me, do you understand?" her fangs bared her wings stretched. I nodded and ran to the village without stopping. I saw a demon. I met a demon. I played her the violin, she wants me to see her again.. Should I be happy to see her again, such a beautiful woman with such a sad story. I'm honored to let her hear me play. You can always hear the sound of a violin being played in the mountings, you can hear the sound of a weeping woman. But most of all you can smell the beautiful smell of roses that sweep though the air like a rich perfume.
