Mother Nature's JokeA Poem by TheWriter
I take a calming walk,
Going down a forgotten trail, Air thick with grassy perfume, Soft, crunchy earth beneath my feet. Chattering of the brook flowing over smooth rocks, Soothing enough to hypnotize me, Putting me in a comfort zone, Into a shower of pineapple & apricot leaves. Resting upon a naked tree, The wind combs its fingers through my hair, No longer am I a passer-by, But part of the tree. Sly Mother Nature loosens the soil under my soles, Sending me tumbling into the chilling water, Birds start to twitter, the forest laughs with amusement. Frozen as white ice sitting in the water, Leaves sail past racing to the finish, Branches lend helping hands, Allowing a foolish human to stand. Mother Nature's cleaver joke sends me shivering back up the path. © 2012 TheWriter |
