The Sparrow

The Sparrow

A Poem by TheWriter

Has the sparrow flown away?
For his melody does not ring in my head,
Like a ghost he simply vanished.

Why have you left?
Left the one that held you so dear,
Someone who listened to your sad songs,
Lending a comforting melody,
Harmonizing with you.

Never caged, your wings spread far as the sky,
Not a hostage, no one held you prisoner.

This was your paradise,
Your safe haven from disaster,
Abuse never ruffled your feathers.

But yet you take flight,
There is no melody without my song bird,
Questions tear at my brain,
Will you return?

The Sparrow is a magnificent choice for your theme... I love the metaphors that you have weaved within the context, conveying the loss of love... wonderfully written. Well Penned!

I can feel the pain of loss and the frustration of being rooted while your other takes flight. A beautiful metaphor for a person caged by unreciprocated love. Good job! keep it up.
