Flaws

Flaws

A Poem by TheWriter
"

Inspired by a select website where the woman/girls on it were nothing but bones; slowly they kill themselves in the name of "beauty."

"
So, heres to make up,
Push up bras, our
Tools concealing all our flaws,

To starving bellies,

High heel shoes,
The 10 extra pounds left to lose.

To cooked skin,

Cheap perfumes,
Cancer to leave a life in ruins.

To "your too fat,"

The cynical views,
Left to hum the "beauty" blues.

To bones and ribs,

To "I love you's,"
Laid under dirt for a snooze.

pungent, quick, to the point, and provocative--brilliant piece! it seems as though it reads effortlessly, touching on points that float, all ready, in the ether of our cultural consciousness. who could argue with the premeditated, nihilistic playground marketing and consumerism has spewed forth to bolster the parisitic relationship between the modern woman and the "beauty" industry. bravo....what a revelation this poem is!
