![]() No Sunrise Beyond the Still FogA Story by Yelrah![]() Every man has a darkness in their heart they repent for.![]() The light has been banished from the lands that Solum walks upon. Long has the sunrise been taken from him and the thick fog now replaces a much happy picture with a grotesque, twisted, and corrupt image that is unforgivingly saddening. Amare has long left Solum’s world and with her leave the sun itself vowed to never rise again. Only in Solum’s dreams can he feel her embrace and only in his mind can he see her glistening smile. Solum is now lying awake on his bed whilst gazing at the slow clock. The ticking machine shows that the time is 5 o’clock in the morning. Light has yet to breach through the windows that provide Solum a view of the outside world. Tears slowly roll down across Solum’s face as he gazes at the picture of him and his darling Amare, both holding each other fondly with smiles that could cast light upon any darkness. The bottle that was once filled with whiskey now rolls across the floor and with each tap it creates as it crosses the small crevices of the wooden floor; Solum feels even more burdened with himself. Solum misses her with each second that he lives. Amare was the crowning jewel of the world, encompassing the spirit of beauty and fantasy and Solum could only feel grateful to her for accepting his proposal of being together in holy matrimony. The image of her hand touching his makes his heart weep and his mind search for answers. Truly it was a dream come true for them both to finally have each others hearts for eternity, but with every dream there is an awakening. To love someone means to do whatever you need for them and Solum did that. He freed his beloved wife from the pain she felt for years and still he has yet to accept whether it had been right or not. Was it the right thing to do or was it completely irrational? Did he hate Amare or was he more loving than one would think? Solum did not know any of the answers to those questions but what he did know is that loneliness is cold and he misses her dearly. The clock strikes seven as Solum contemplates how things could have been different. Was the thought of losing her to great or was it just enough for him to do what he did? No matter what the choice he decided upon, Amare was happy to see her husband with her during her last moments but heartbroken to see his smile replaced with a deep frown that could sadden even a person in a drunken stupor. A metal rap is echoed throughout the room as a single knife falls into the floor. Solum gazes at the metal instrument with utter horror and disgust knowing what it was once used for. Cold, icy shivers run down his back as he remembered the twisted act he was forced to perform upon Amare. She was deathly ill and according to the doctor she was never going to recover. She was in immense pain and suffered for nothing, yet she still gave Solum that smile but sadly the light was gone there but also gone from her eyes. The perfect angel that Solum had always adored was dead and the true question remained with Solum. Was it the illness that tortured her cause her death or was it Solum ending her suffering. “Hell awaits me for murdering my sweet angel” are the few words that escaped Solum’s mouth as he grabbed the metal utensil and placed it upon the wooden desk. He hoped she was happy wherever she may be and that one day the sunrise could once again pierce the still fog. Where Solum was felt like hell itself but instead of him being the one who receives punish from a demon: he himself brought the punishment onto himself. The perfect angel was killed by the most twisted of demons. Many say that opposites attract and that true love will have the two be together forever, but with Solum and Amare the true story is that only the strongest of people can give the strongest of punishments to themselves in order to make the other happy.
