"

This is completely the writing of my friend.

"Only a few more days." The young demon murmured as he skated along beside the tauric Varixian. "What do you think we can expect from our enemies?"

Valerian shrugged. "No idea, kid."

Silence fell over the two of them, lasting for a few moments before Valerian glanced down at his companion.

"I'm glad you're talkin'." The taur stated. "With Maki 'n' Mambo already ahead of us and Masquerade on the hunt, it's nice to have someone to talk to."

Red scoffed. "Nice? How dare you use that word."

"You know what I mean, pipsqueak." Valerian muttered, rolling his eyes. "By the way, what's the deal with the talking, anyway? Aren't you afraid of the scales anymore?"

Red shook his head. He took his torn denim jacket off, then the sleeveless t-shirt under it, laying both on Valerian's back. Crimson scales stretched from his chest down into his pants. "I was never scared of them." He stated, the scales covering more of his upper body with each word. "I just didn't know what to expect. I didn't know what I'd look like when the scales completely covered me."

"You could always learn to change forms, like the demons that mingle with the mortals up here." Valerian suggested. "Once your scales fully cover you, you could just change your form and go back to this one. You know, blend in."

Much to Valerian's surprise, Red actually laughed. "That's a shocker; something smart coming from you." The demon boy said.

Valerian scowled. "F**k you."

"You're touchy." Red smirked, climbing onto Valerian's back, running his hands through the Varixian's fur.

"And you're weird." Valerian replied. "Why the hell do you insist on touchin' me?"

Red shrugged. "I like your fur."

"... Not something I thought I'd hear from you." Valerian said.

"Well, it's such an interesting color." Red stated. "It's iridescent. I'm sure you notice it, too."

Valerian nodded after a moment. "Yeah, I guess."

Red went silent, simply looking down at Valerian's shoulders and back. The Varixian's fur was soft, almost too soft to belong to someone any sane being would fear, and in the right light, the dark gray seemed to turn purple.

"I bet the pixie's gonna be at that Tournament." Valerian grinned. "I just hope you don't get in my way before I get to fight him. I'd hate to have to kill you."

Red snarled in response. "You've got balls, saying things like that to me. If you ever do that again, I'm going to rip your tongue out and paint my name in blood across your back."

"Try it." Valerian challenged. "I'll take that hockey stick from you and shove it up your-"

Red cut him off, reaching into Valerian's mouth and grabbing his tongue. "Hold your tongue or I'll be forced to hold it for you." He hissed, releasing the Varixian's tongue after a moment.

"... You're a motherfucking a*****e." Valerian muttered.

"I'm a motherfucking demon." Red replied, grinning. "Besides, you know you deserved that. And admit it, you're glad I didn't just yank your tongue out."
