Niqi laughed quietly, leaning contentedly against Micah's chest. "That's twice now, and I still have no idea who you are." She opened her eyes and propped her head up so she could turn to look at him.

"Well, I already told you my name." Micah said. "Micah Seraphi. The reason I can change my form so easily... It's a few simple glamours with a polymorph or two thrown in for good measure." He paused a moment, then flashed Niqi a grin. "I'm an angel... and you're pregnant."

Niqi sat up and stared at Micah. "...Say what?"

"What do you need clarified?" Micah asked. "I'm pretty sure those were easily understood."

"How do you know I'm pregnant?" Niqi demanded. "I mean, we got carried away and didn't stop to...well...but..."

Micah shrugged. "I'm one of the High Plane's watchers. I get glimpses of the future, and one of them was, well, us and a little pup."

Niqi stared at him, then turned her gaze to her bare stomach. She ran her fingers through the soft fur there. "I can't be...I'm not ready to be..." she murmured.

You'll do fine." Micah murmured. "And I'll be there to help you, every step of the way."

Niqi shook her head. To her surprise, little droplets of water fell when she did so. She quickly lay on her back and put a paw over her eyes. "I can't think of this. What else did you say? Angel?"

"Yeah." Micah replied. "I'm an angel. Strange hook-up, isn't it? An angel and a vampire..."

"Okay," Niqi said quietly. She stared up at the ceiling. "Okay, and...how did you know about my past? And how much more do you know?"

"I know about everything you did after we met." Micah said. "When I said I was a watcher, that didn't just mean a psychic. I also watched you."

Niqi paused. "Stealing the tramp's clothes was before we hooked up, though," she pointed out.

Micah chuckled. "You're not gonna believe this. Caseriel, one of Fisnal's other watchers, has been keeping tabs on your group since its creation. After it split up, he ended up watching you. When we hooked up, he showed me a little bit of what happened. I think he said... 'Hey, Micah, come see what your new girlfriend did a while back'."

Niqi suddenly felt much more self-conscious. "So you saw...a lot."

Micah shook his head, grinning. "Nah, that's all I saw."

"But everything since I met you? It's been...a decent while. Months." Niqi stared at a corner of wall.

"I'm basically your guardian angel." Micah stated. "What's the problem with me watching over you?"

Niqi turned back to face him, and then found she couldn't look him in the eyes. She stared at his chest instead. "You know me. I don't know you. I feel..." her volume trailed off with her words. "Vulnerable," she finished almost inaudibly.

Micah patted Niqi on the head. "If you wanna question me on my life or something, feel free to."

Niqi closed her eyes and buried her face in Micah's chest fur. "First of all, what were you doing pretending to be a human DJ?"

Micah shrugged. "I was on vacation. The life of a watcher can get kind of stressful, what with the doomsday visions and whatnot."

Niqi grinned into his fur, but the smile faded abruptly. "Are you just - on vacation now, then?"

"No, actually." Micah replied. "I'm on the clock. I got a promotion, so I'm working down here to protect somebody."

Niqi smiled again. "Somebody?"

Micah nodded. "Somebody. Well, two somebodies."

"You can stop being vague anytime you like," Niqi replied.

"... You and the pup, woman." Micah muttered, rolling his eyes.

"Thanks," Niqi said, giggling. "I see why we would matter to you personally, but...why would you get a job protecting us?"

"Because something's going to happen. Soon." Micah said. "I don't have the specifics, but it's going to be big. The pup has to survive it, which means you do, too. If he doesn't..."

Niqi turned to look at Micah again. "Did you know I was going to get pregnant, then?" she asked.

Micah chuckled, somewhat nervously. "Actually, my magic is the whole reason you're pregnant, so I kinda had to know..."

Niqi growled half-heartedly. "B*****d. Springing that s**t on me when you already knew."

Micah flicked Niqi's nose. "Should I have said 'there's a one hundred percent chance that you'll get pregnant' before we started?"

Niqi laughed. "Probably not. Would've been something of a turnoff." Her tail flicked back and forth contentedly. "Still a b*****d."

"I can live with that." Micah grinned. "Come on, we're probably pretty close to land now."

Niqi sighed, not wanting to get up and search for clothes. "It's really true, then - I'm having a pup?" She wondered at the idea.

Micah nodded. "Yeah, you're having a pup. But don't worry, it's just the one."

Niqi nodded. "Dunno if I could handle a litter." She grinned. "And you, you'll be here with me the whole time? Promise?"

"Promise." Micah replied. "Although, if he comes into his powers while he's still in the womb, you might not need me for anything other than moral support..."

Niqi felt something inside her tear at the words. "Ah," she said, staring at the door. She sat up and began looking for clothes in the relative darkness.

"Even if that's the case, I'll still be there." Micah said, joining Niqi in the search for clothing.

Niqi nodded. "These are yours," she said, handing him his pants. She found her shirt and pulled it on. "Shoot, ripped it a bit," she mumbled, smirking. "This shirt's held on for like, two decades, and now it's ripped."

Micah laughed, slipping into his pants. "Probably my fault, sorry." He headed toward the staircase leading up to the deck. "I'll see you on deck."
