Niqi opened Seisen's door and stepped through, then closed it. "Ambree? You here?" she shouted, walking forward and glancing around.

Ambree leaned over the railing of a higher catwalk. "Yeah, I'm here."

"We're going back to the hell dimensions. You want to come?" Niqi asked.

"...Sure, why not?" Ambree began looking for an easy way down.

"Just jump over the side, I'll catch you," Niqi said.

"...You'd better not let me splat," Ambree muttered, stepping over the railing.

"We leave hell, only to find out we have to go back to hell..." Niqi muttered.

"Yeah, we know, it f****n' sucks." Glide muttered. "I swear to god, though, this ends tonight."

"Thank the..." Niqi paused, and then turned to Therali. "Well, you."

"Uh, you're welcome, I guess." Therali replied.

Niqi smirked. "Onwards, I suppose." She stared at the ground. "Well, er, downwards, in any case."

"Dude, check out the sky." Glide said. "It's getting lighter..."

Niqi glanced upwards. "Maybe this play is coming to an end?"

"Act Two has drawn to a close." Glide grinned. "Just sucks that we're ill-equipped, 'cause every third act needs a minigun."

Niqi grinned. "We'll manage." She paused. "Since there seems to be a break between the acts right now, mind telling me what was going on at the Nexus? Who were those guys?"

"Ask 'em yourself." Glide responded. "You guys may not have noticed, but they followed us."

Niqi looked back. "Good grief, we've got quite a crowd. Hey... Yasya and Gatari, was it?"

The wolf nodded. "Gatari Arterius, the Callous Angel, at your service."

"And I'm Yasya Kobai." The cabbit added. "The Righteous Twinblade."

Niqi smiled, nodding. "Niqi. May I ask how you know Glide?"

"We gave him his Nexus key." Gatari replied. "Taught him how the Nexus worked, too. He was one of the first people to come through in... centuries."

Niqi's eyes widened. "How old are you guys?"

Gatari shrugged. "You wanna get technical, I'm twenty and Yasya's nineteen. This is the first time we've been out of the Nexus since we joined up, so our aging is just picking up where it left off."

Niqi raised an eyebrow. "'Joined up'? Joined what?"

"The Children of Oblivion." Yasya said. "They've existed for thousands and thousands of years, watching over the Nexus, making sure things keep running smoothly, keeping people from opening doors to the Black Abyss, and-"

Gatari cut him off, tilting the cabbit's head up and kissing him, then turning his attention to Niqi. "Sorry, he rambles sometimes."

Niqi laughed. "That's okay. I wasn't even aware anyone took care of the Nexus."

"How did you think things were kept in working order?" Gatari smirked. "We protect... well, everything."

Niqi smiled. "Thanks for that. It's impressive work. Not too easy, either, I bet."

"Yeah, it's a hard job to do." Gatari said. "But on our days off..."

"Uh, do I want to know?" Niqi asked.

"Depends on how you feel about massive parties." Gatari replied.

Niqi laughed. "In the Nexus?"

"Well, we don't just have doors." Gatari grinned. "You ever wonder what's on the lower levels? Party central."

Niqi took a moment to think. "After this is over, think we can go to one of those parties? We're all going to need it."
