"Hour's up, guys." Glide announced. "Let's get moving before somebody f****n' spots us and gives my idiot father the heads-up."

Niqi got up, yawning. "I don't know how you expect me to fight without getting my a*s handed to me. This whole 'saving the omniverse' thing is getting pretty tiring," she said, grinning.

Glide laughed. "Just don't f**k up. 'Cause if you f**k up, it's gonna be me that kills you."

"Wow, you're just a barrel of sunshine and butterflies." Briar commented.

"All the time," Niqi agreed, rolling her eyes.

Glide gathered up his weapons, securing them to his belt and vest. "What do you expect from me? A frickin' pep-talk? I'd sooner f**k 'er."

"... Not a statement I expected from you." Shetani said.

"Let's get moving before this turns into a debate about what Glide would or wouldn't do," Niqi suggested. "We don't even have any Klondike bars to offer him."

...

Glide swung his arm out, the sudden movement stopping the entire group. "Hold it." He hissed, jerking his head toward a nearby ridge. "Demons. And a lot of 'em. You guys wanna just sneak by 'em?"

Niqi nodded. "Best to conserve our energy for the larger fights. We'll deal with them later if we have to."

Glide turned his attention to Briar. "Dude, you'll need to dismiss Kerberos if we wanna get by 'em. I'm pretty sure they'd notice a fifteen-foot wolf."

"Yeah, yeah, I was getting to that." Briar muttered, drawing a few runes in the dirt. "Back to your room, boy." He said, stomping the central rune and opening a portal.

Kerberos gave a slight nod, stepping forward and dropping through the portal.

"Let's move," Niqi muttered.

With a bit of stealth and a pinch of luck, the group managed to sneak by the demons without being spotted.

"Damn, it's been so long since I had to do something like that..." Glide breathed. "I forgot how f****n' nerve-racking it is to have to be stealthy."

Niqi chuckled. "Just a bit of an adrenaline rush. Which way now?"

"I think it's that way." Glide said. "It's hard to tell, though. All the scents are kinda meshing together."

Briar nodded. "Another side effect of being here for too long. In truth, what you've caught is the scent of pure corruption, coming from everything around."

Niqi shifted uncomfortably. "I think that's why I started breathing through my mouth a while ago. It's not pleasant."

"That's an understatement." Briar replied. "We need to hurry up and finish our business here, before things start going even further south."

"... Too late." Revan murmured. "We've been spotted."

"How the f**k did that happen!?" Glide growled. "We're stealthy for the first time ever, and now we get spotted!?"

"Calm down, it's not that bad." Revan said. "It's just a scout that thinks it saw something. It'll come in close enough to make sure... close enough to be intercepted."

"Easy enough to deal with, then," Niqi commented.

"You want it?" Glide asked. "If I have to deal with it, it's gonna be screaming loud enough to alert the other ones."

"I'll just snap its neck. Shouldn't be too hard," Niqi responded.

The scout - a small humanoid with a head shaped similarly to a mushroom's cap and a pair of long, thin stalks that supported its eyes - waddled over, eyes swiveling around and scanning the area for anything out of the ordinary.

Before he had a chance to take much in, Niqi was behind him, hands at his throat. "Goodbye," she muttered, snapping his neck with a simple twist. She was back with the Raven's Nest before he hit the ground.

"Bravo." Glide grinned. "I give it a nine, purely for execution. Shall we get moving?"

Niqi nodded. "Lead the way."
