"

This is completely the writing of my friend.

"

"Hey, didn't Keris say something about this only being the first act?" Niqi asked. "I didn't really hear him all that well, but I think that's what he said..."

Glide nodded. "He did. He said that the opponent for this 'act' is going to be Zi'Ran, and knowing those two, each one'll demand a one-on-one fight." He raised a paw, claws idly scratching the gemstone under his chin. "Since I'm getting sick of dealing with these freaks, why don't you go up against him?"

Niqi shot him a quizzical look. "Why me?"

"Why not?" Glide replied. "He's half-wolf, I figured you'd be best suited to deal with him. Of course, if you don't want to, we could always send Ambree..."

Niqi glanced over at the human girl, then back to Glide. "... She'd get annihilated."

"Looks like it's on you, then." Glide said. "Good luck. You're really gonna need it."

Niqi narrowed her eyes. "You're enjoying this, aren't you?"

"You have no idea." Glide grinned, patting Niqi on the head. "Don't f**k up."

"Fine, I guess I'm stuck with it." Niqi muttered. "But if there's a miniboss before him, I'm taking that and leaving you with Zi'Ran."

...

Therali snarled, raising his scythe as Glide approached him again. "I swear, if you hit me again, I'll-"

"Shut up." Glide growled. "I'm not gonna hit you again. I want you to do me a favor. A big one."

"No." Therali responded. "Not again. No more favors."

Glide grabbed Therali by the jaw, lifting the bat god off the ground. "You're helping me, whether you want to or not."

"Don't think you can intimidate me like you did with Tal, Glide." Therali said. "I'm not just some punk kid, some reaper that's still green, that you can push around to get your way. I'm a god. If I wanted to, I could destroy you here and now."

"You could at least listen to what I want before you start acting like a douchebag." Glide muttered, dropping Therali. "It's not even for me."

Therali raised an eyebrow. "Oh really? That changes... absolutely nothing. Did you ever think that maybe, just maybe, my magic is stretched too f*****g thin to be doing trivial s**t for you?"

"No, I didn't." Glide stated. "Are you done yet? Ready to listen?"

"Since you're obviously not going to give up until you get your way, I have no choice, do I?" Therali smirked. "Fine. What do you want?"

Glide looked up, toward the blackened sky, as if scanning it for something. After a few moments, he finally turned his gaze back to Therali. "First off, can you check on my mother back in the present?"

"That's pretty easy to do, for a 'big favor'." Therali commented, using the blade of his scythe to draw a large circle in the dirt. "Reveal."

The area within the circle shone brightly, then dimmed, revealing an image of Glide's mother, the mongoose engaged in armed combat against a pair of succubi. "... She's gonna kill 'em."

"That's your mother?" Therali asked. "That's... amazing. She was in her forties when she died, right? Then resurrected by your father's necromancers ten years ago, meaning she's well into her fifties by now... but she looks so young..."

Glide nodded. "I know. She looks like she's in her early twenties."

"She's aged remarkably well." Therali replied. "Now, what's the point of this?"

"I..." Glide smiled, shaking his head. "I'd be lying if I said it was just to make sure she was okay. I... don't want her to die again. That's why I want you to work your magic on her. You're the god of life and death, it should be no big thing at all for you."

Therali looked up from the image. "You're asking me to make your mother immortal."

Glide simply nodded in response, avoiding eye contact as best he could.

"You're really serious about this, aren't you?" Therali asked. "I don't know how well it'll go from here, with dark magic smothering even my white magic, but with more demons clawing their way into the mortal realm with every passing minute, I'm not going to wait. Get Briar, 'Tani and Revan over here... before I change my mind..."

"... Thanks, man." Glide murmured.

Therali rolled his eyes. "Whatever. You owe me, big time. Expect a job as a grim reaper once this s**t is over with, until I feel like you've paid me back for this."
