Arriving in Hell

A Chapter by Star Catcher
"

As obvious by the idiotic grammar. Joint-written, and s**t. Ugh.

"

"Uh, is anybody else noticing this?" Glide asked.

Shetani nodded. "If you mean our kids playing tonsil hockey, yes."

"Okay, good." Glide said, still somewhat stunned. "Then I'm not hallucinating."

"Not unless I am, too, and we're seeing the same thing..." Shetani muttered.

Both goddess and Varixian fell silent. There was no sound for a few moments, then the front door of the house opened, Briar standing in the doorway.

"Who likes good news?" The hare grinned. "Because I've got some."

"Don't just leave us hanging." Glide snapped. "What's the deal?"

Briar stepped inside, closing the door. "We've managed to narrow it down to one area in one dimension. We'll have to do just a little bit of searching to find his exact location, but it shouldn't take long."

Niqi grinned. "Let's go, then."

"You sure you guys are ready?" Briar asked. "Once we get there, there won't be anywhere that's completely safe. The demons that roam this planet under cover of darkness aren't even the tip of the proverbial iceberg; there are enemies by the thousand down there."

Niqi hesitated. "Then what do you suggest we do? We need to stop Reiko one way or another. Do we fight our way through, or ignore everyone and head straight for him?"

"I say we drop in there and surprise the whole lot of 'em." Glide stated. "Start shattering some f****n' skulls."

"That might actually be the best way to go about this." Briar replied. "There's just one thing. If it takes too long, the power of the Hell dimensions will start seeping into your soul, trying to corrupt you. Trying to turn you. I'll ask one more time. Are you all truly ready?"

Shetani was the first to respond. "I'm ready. If anyone stands in our way, I'll personally make trophies of their spines."

"... Uh, good to have you on the team." Glide said.

Niqi smirked. "Let them try to corrupt me. There's no way in hell, no pun intended, that I'd ever turn against you guys."

"I'm ready, as well." Dham replied. "And in terms of strategy?"

Glide grinned, cracking his knuckles. "We circle around Briar as soon as we land. We'll fight the demons off while he calls Kerberos. After that... we put the leash and the goddamn choke-chain back on the unleashed Hell."

...

The group landed in the midst of a battalion of demons, quickly pushing them back and forming a protective ring around Briar. The hare began etching runes in the dirt with his hindpaws, the complex glyphs spiraling outward from the center of the circle. Careful not to disturb his runes, he made his way back to the center, holding his hooked staff high above his head. He took a brief moment to speak an incantation, then slammed the tip of the staff into the center rune, all the others lighting up.

With a bone-chilling howl, a great white wolf clawed his way through the ground and into the fray. He shook the dirt from his fur and stood upright, reaching nearly fifteen feet and towering over the tallest demons on the battlefield.

"Kerberos... has risen!" Briar roared.

The rest of the group broke away, allowing Kerberos to bound into the crowd of demons, trampling most of them under his hindpaws. "Damn, dude's a one-wolf wrecking crew." Glide commented, hooking his arms around an imp's neck and yanking its head off. "He should really invest in some clothing, though."

Kerberos swept his large paw across the scarred land, gathering up a handful of demons and dropping them into his mouth, weapons and all.

"He, uh, didn't leave us very many..." Niqi muttered, the group of demons she had been slaughtering suddenly gone.
