Freak the F**k Out

This is joint-written. What else is there to do?

"

"Isn't that your mother, Glide?" Shetani whispered, nudging Glide. "She looks -"

"- pregnant." Glide finished. "And pretty far along, at that... Think you can, uh..."

Shetani raised an eyebrow. "What?"

Glide shrugged. "I don't know, look in and make sure baby-me is okay."

Shetani rolled her eyes. "Fine, I suppose. These are special circumstances, after all." She paused, closing her eyes and focusing. After a moment, her eyes snapped open. "Glide... There's two..."

Niqi's eyes widened. "Glide? You never told us you had a twin..."

"But... I don't..." Glide murmured. "... Do I?"

Shetani nodded. "By the looks of things, you do."

Niqi blinked. "I, er... What the hell is the standard procedure in these kinds of situations, again?"

"Freak the f**k out." Glide responded, falling back on his a*s.

Niqi helped Glide up, her eyes trained on his mother as she walked out of the line of vision. "Well, I guess this qualifies as out of the ordinary, right?"

"No." Therali said. "This isn't an alteration of the past."

"Then what the hell is it!?" Glide growled, grabbing the bat god by the collar of his shirt and slamming him against a nearby building. "Why don't I remember a brother!?"

Therali seemed unphased. "Any number of reasons. Perhaps something happened in the past that made you lock it out of your memory. Now, let me go or I'll choke you."

"She's going to give birth sometime soon, right?" Niqi interjected. "How about we stick around a few days, find out what exactly happened?"

Glide scowled, pushing Therali against the building again before letting him go.

"Sounds like the best plan we have at the moment." Therali replied. "We'll stay."

"Maybe we should try to blend in a bit," Ambree suggested, looking around at everyone's out-of-place clothes

"I'm basically blending in already." Glide said. "The cowboy look is fine for me. The rest of you can change if you want to."

"I'll go steal us some clothes," Niqi offered. "And we might want to think about checking into a hotel or something."

"No." Therali snapped. "No thievery, no hotel check-ins. That would be changing the past, if only a little bit, and that's what we're trying to make sure doesn't happen. Shetani can summon us clothing, and we'll find an abandoned building to sleep in."

Niqi shrank back. "Sorry, I reverted to standard procedure without thinking."

Therali shook his head. "It's not your fault. This kind of mistake is common among first-time time travelers."
