"Hey, Glide?" Felix murmured, leaning his head against the older Varixian's shoulder as they walked. "I should probably come clean with you."

Glide raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

"I'm not really an angel." Felix said, sighing.

"Well, what the hell are you, then?" Glide asked.

Felix thought for a few seconds, then shrugged. "If you wanna get technical, I'm a Black Faun." He paused, noticing the strange look Glide was giving him. "It's hard to explain. Think of it as something more than either side; I'm not an angel, but I'm not a demon, either, despite what the name may lead you to believe."

Glide went silent for a moment. "... How do you explain the wings and the halo, then?"

"The halo and my healing power, they're just pure energy." Felix explained. "Learn to manipulate it properly and it's easy to craft a false halo, or heal someone's wounds with a simple touch. The wings were... Honestly? The wings were actually a gift from Therali."

Glide nodded. "Okay, now that that's out in the open, what else can you do?"

"You'll see." Felix smiled. He paused for a moment, then grabbed Glide by his vest, pulling him down until he was able to glare into the taller Varixian's eyes. "By the way, I know what you did while I was dead. If you ever cheat on me again without getting me in on it, I'm going to kill you with a phonebook."

Glide stared at Felix for a few seconds, then nodded. "Yes, dear..."

...

"Checked the other rooms." Niqi reported. "I didn't find a soul."

Ambree nodded. "There wasn't anyone in the other courtyards, either."

"Looks like Zi'Ran and Keris were the only ones here." Glide said. "It's weird. Antel's scent is all over this place, and I can't pick up any trails leading away."

Shetani thought in silence for a long moment, then finally piped up. "Maybe he really isn't here."

Glide raised an eyebrow. "Explain."

"Well," Shetani began, "if his scent stops here, and we know he's not here, there's only two explanations. One, he could've found a way to mask his scent, in which case you'll need to follow an out-of-place scent. Or, two, he's started traveling in another dimension."

Glide nodded, attempting to pick up on a scent that didn't belong. "There's us... Zi'Ran and Keris... What the hell is that one?"

"Which way is it headed?" Shetani asked.

"It's the one that's going off toward the northeast." Glide replied. "Zi'Ran and Keris headed northwest."

Shetani grinned. "I think we've found our enemy."

"Let's go, then." Revan said. "It's time to end this."

...

"Another dimension? Seriously?" Niqi asked.

"It could've been possible." Shetani shrugged. "But it's been ruled out."

"What now, then?" Niqi asked, trying to keep up.

Glide raised an eyebrow. "... You're kidding, right? It's obvious what we do. We follow Antel's scent and whup his f****n' a*s."

Niqi paused for a moment, thinking. "So his scent just all of a sudden...changed."

"It's a masking technique." Glide said. "People that knew it used to use it to f**k with hunting dogs. Change their scent, make the dogs think the trail's disappeared."

Niqi nodded. "Clever. But then, why would he act like he was anticipating seeing you, and then go and hide?"

"Ten to one, he's drawing us into some kind of trap." Glide replied, grinning.

Niqi grinned back. "So of course you plan to walk right into it, and by some miracle manage to avoid whatever trouble he has waiting for you at the last second."

Glide shook his head. "Nope. I already know what he's got planned, and I know exactly how to avoid it without a miracle."

Niqi raised her eyebrows. "Care to explain?"

"You think I couldn't feel it when he was snooping around in my head?" Glide smirked. "I know what he saw - thoughts, memories, plans, everything."

Shetani glanced at Glide. "I get it, you sneaky b*****d. He thinks you wouldn't expect him to use one of your own ideas against you."

"What idea is he going to use?" Niqi asked.

"I'm betting on the dragon pit." Glide said. "Be on the lookout for an area where the snow isn't as deep as it should be. We find that, I'm havin' a good, old-fashion dragon barbeque."

...

"Okay, how well done does everybody want their dragons?" Glide asked, leaning over the edge of the pit. "Better answer now, before they all end up charred."

"Rare as you can get it," Niqi replied, peering over as well. "Damn."

Glide nodded, flicking his chain into the pit and looping it around a small dragon's neck, pulling it up. "Blue f'r you." He grinned.

Shetani was quick to summon a large plate. "Just to avoid burns."

Niqi laughed. "I wish Antel could see how completely his plan is failing."

"I bet he can." Glide said. "I just wish I could hear him cursin' about it."

"Or see his face," Ambree added, smirking. "It just has to be priceless right now."

"He probably screamed like Hank Hill when I pitched that first fireball in there." Glide snickered. "How about you, how do you want yours?"

"Medium-rare," Ambree answered, still smirking.

...

"... Wow." Glide murmured. "Check that out..." He lifted a paw, pointing toward the enormous silhouette of a fortress on the horizon. "Dude's compensating, for sure. Biggest fortress I've ever f****n' seen."

Shetani smacked the back of Glide's head. "You wanna hold off on the jokes until after we kill him?"

"It's best to joke now." Revan said. "Who knows what might happen? It could be the last time any of us feel like joking around. Look."

All eyes were instantly trained on the group of creatures and soldiers around the fortress.

Niqi's eyes widened. "Is that a-"

"Yes." Glide responded, cutting her off. "That's a Shell Dragon." He turned his attention to the robed mouse on his left. "Jekka, rally your troops. I want you to send them all down at once, overwhelm the enemy."

Jekka nodded. "You got it." He grinned, pulling his arms into the sleeves of his robe, tossing it off after a moment and revealing black steel armor. He turned on his heel, moving to stand in front of his army. "Mice of Luchóg, you're all here to fight for the fate of the omniverse. I'm not going to lie to you; there's a very real chance that you'll die out there, but that's a chance you take each and every time you step onto any battlefield. Your enemy is like nothing you have ever faced before." He paused for a moment, considering his next words. "They... have no code of honor, and you must push yours aside. They will not hesitate to stab you in the back, and you must not hesitate, either. This is going to be the toughest fight of your lives... and perhaps the last. Now go! Take them by storm!"

The army of mice flooded onto the battlefield, screaming war cries, swords brandished threateningly.

"They're fucked." Glide stated.

"... I know." Jekka sighed, shaking his head. "But, at least they'll tire out the opposition."

Glide glanced over at Syrinda, clicking his tongue. "Get your archers ready, start firin' volleys when I give you the signal."

"As you say." Syrinda replied, rounding up her archers with a sharp whistle. "Arrows ready!"

"I guess, as usual, we'll be rushing into the battle with no plan at all." Ambree smirked.

Glide shrugged. "Pretty much. Any objections?"

Revan raised his paw. "Well, there's one thing wrong with the 'no plan' plan. We need a plan to deal with those guys." He jerked his head toward the front lines of Antel's army. "See any familiar faces?"

Glide scanned the front lines for a moment, then scowled. "What the f**k are they doin' here?"

Among the creatures and soldiers, decimating Jekka's troops, were Valerian, Red, Maki and Mambo.

"Uh, Glide?" Niqi murmured, nudging Glide with her elbow. "Revan's right. We definitely need a plan."

Glide snarled, tossing off his torn vest and fishnet shirt. "I'm gonna go down there and break their necks. We are officially done f*****g around with them." He cracked his knuckles, stalking off toward the battle.

"... I want a front row seat for this beating." Shetani stated, following after Glide. The rest of Raven's Nest drew their weapons and fell into line behind the goddess.
