Mercy

A Chapter by Star Catcher
"

This is completely the writing of my friend. Why are we always getting sidetracked? And yes, Felix and Glide did what you think they did. In front of everybody.

"

When the sun rose, Glide woke everyone. "Rise and shine, a******s!" He called. "Time to get movin'!"

"Dude, not so loud..." Sandy muttered, emerging from the tent he and Davis shared. "You're lucky we're the only ones around, dad. Otherwise you'd get arrested for making that kind of noise at the a*s-crack of dawn."

...

Niqi yawned, falling into step beside Glide. "Casey never mentioned the fact that vampires could still get a horrible night's sleep and wake up feeling like s**t. I was freezing my tail off all night."

"If it's too cold for you here, you can wait for us back on Saikoro." Glide smirked.

"And be left out of this?" Niqi scoffed. "No way."

Glide rolled his eyes, picking up the pace a bit. "Come on, I've got his scent again. He's this way."

...

"Well... this is a little weird." Glide muttered, staring up at the enormous monastery. "He chooses here, of all places...?"

Revan snickered. "I thought we knew by now that he's a strange foe." He commented, kicking the monastery's wooden doors. "These aren't gonna budge, master."

Glide smirked, offering his paw to the Varixian child. "Lemme borrow your power for a second."

Revan nodded, taking Glide's paw and transferring some of his energy to his master.

Glide focused on the bright green energy in his paw, using sheer force of will to force it to travel down his body and cover his left leg. "Stand back, guys."

The entire group took two steps back, moving as if they were one creature.

"Wait a minute, I don't know if I can do this..." Glide murmured. He took a moment to think, then grinned. "I got it!" He declared, bringing his leg up and delivering a kick that knocked the doors off their hinges, sending them flying into the darkness of the monastery.

Revan whistled appreciatively. "Nice work."

"I do what I can with what I've got." Glide replied, dusting his paws off. "Let's move, boys and girls."

...

Glide stopped when he reached the center of the monastery's courtyard, holding out an arm. "Guys, go back to the cloisters."

Niqi raised an eyebrow. "Why?"

"Are you questioning me, pup?" Glide snarled. "Whether it seems like it at the time or not, I tell you guys to do things so you stay alive. Now go back to the cloisters. You'll be safe there. These two are too far beyond any of your skills. I can't have you guys playing hero."

Niqi looked up, noticing the four red eyes staring at them from the opposite cloister for the first time. "Wha-"

"Besides..." Glide murmured, dropping his weapons. "This is my fight. I know them."

"You know them?" Niqi asked. "Who the hell are they?"

The first of two figures stepped into the light, a boy that appeared to be half wolf. "Zi'Ran." Glide growled, cracking his knuckles. "Haven't seen you in ages. How are those replacement eyes?"

"They burn like the fires of hell, every second of my life." Zi'Ran hissed. "I have you to thank for that."

"Does Keris want revenge, too?" Glide laughed. "Where is the little imp?"

The second figure emerged from the shadows, enormous fangs bared. The imp boy's long tail was wrapped around his waist, serving as a belt. He wore a bandana around his head, tilted slightly, to cover his left eye.

Glide smirked, already moving toward the two. "You didn't find a replacement?"

"I planned to take yours," Keris stated, eyeing Glide's eyepatch, "but it seems that someone beat me to it. I suppose I'll just have to take the right."

"Revan, grab my weapons." Glide ordered. "And get everyone back to the cloisters. You can watch from there."

Revan nodded, scooping up Glide's weapons and heading toward the cloisters. The others followed behind him, all but Shetani.

"What are you waitin' for?" Glide snapped, turning his glare toward the goddess. "Don't tell me you're gonna do something cliché, like tell me to be careful."

"If you die," Shetani snarled, grabbing Glide by his jaw, "remember whose hands you wind up in. Don't even think about letting me down."

Glide opened his mouth to make a remark, though he didn't get the chance, Shetani kissing him.

When the goddess released him, Glide wrinkled his nose in disgust. "Ew, I can't believe you just did that..."

"Shut up and beat them senseless." Shetani muttered, heading back to the cloisters.

Glide smirked, knocking his knuckles together as he made his way over to his two foes. "Who's first?"

Zi'Ran threw a punch, hitting Glide in the side of the head and knocking him toward Keris.

Keris grabbed the Varixian by the throat, beginning to choke him, only to be kicked in the side.

Glide ducked around behind Keris, grabbing his wrist and holding his arm out. Grinning, he slammed his elbow down on the imp's arm, licking his lips as his ears picked up the snap of bones.

Zi'Ran stared, horrified, unwilling to believe that what he had seen had actually happened.

With his partner distracted, Keris was defenseless, his other arm broken just as quickly.

Glide wasted no time, wrapping both arms around Keris' neck.

"Glide, don't do it!" Felix growled. "Don't you know the meaning of the word 'mercy'?"

Glide stopped for a moment, snarling, unable to bring himself to kill Keris after Felix's outburst. Growling quietly, he released the imp, instead knocking him out with a quick blow to the back of the head. "Run, gods damn you..." He hissed at Zi'Ran. "Pick him up and run. I listened to him once, I will not spare you both if you stay."

Zi'Ran did as he was told, lifting Keris onto his shoulder and running.

Glide turned his emerald eye to the others, still standing in the cloisters. Most of the group moved a few feet away, leaving Felix  alone in Glide's sight. "That was stupid..." Glide muttered. "Get the hell over here."

Felix whimpered, though he obeyed, moving to stand in front of Glide.

Glide wrapped both arms around Felix's neck, pulling him close and resting his chin on the top of Felix's head. "Y'know, you're lucky."

"What do you mean?" Felix asked.

"I listened to you." Glide replied. "If it was anyone but you, I would've torn his head off just to prove a point."

Felix grinned, leaning up to whisper in Glide's ear, then kissing the older Varixian on the cheek.

Glide raised an eyebrow. "Can't you wait until Antel's dealt with?"

"No." Felix responded, nuzzling against Glide's cheek. "It won't take long."

"Oh lord." Niqi muttered, shaking her head. "I see where this is going."

...

"That was... slightly disturbing." Sandy stated. "But... I'm somewhat aroused."

Davis nodded, staring. "I didn't know Felix could bend like that."

Ricky simply laughed, patting Davis on the head.
