"

This is joint-written. Pretty short, but then this visit didn't exactly go as expected.

"

“Okay, guys,” Glide said, shoving open the Nexus door and stepping through, “we’re splitting up. Shetani, you and Niqi head for the not-so-crazy guys’ camp.”

Shetani nodded. “As you command.”

“Dham, you and Ambree are going to try to locate the ship.” Glide continued. “If it’s still in one piece, check it out. She should be able to recognize it.”

“Got it.” Dham responded.

“Good.” Glide said. “Rules.”

“Make a mental note of anything suspicious.” Dham stated. “Remember where it was, what it looked like, and what, if anything, it was doing.”

“Anything unrecognizable is to be presumed hostile.” Shetani added. “Hostiles are to be avoided if possible. If they cannot be avoided, engage with extreme caution.”

Niqi took some air from the miniature oxygen tank she had brought. “Where are you headed? Kalma’s castle, perhaps?”

Glide nodded, cracking his knuckles. “I’m gonna finish my job and get my f****n’ sword back.”

Niqi laughed. “Think he’s still pinned to the ground with Senpuu?” She laughed harder at the mental image, and began coughing because of the gas.

“If he isn’t, he’s gonna wish he was.” Glide smirked. “Once we’ve explored the place, we’ll meet back at the ruined city.”

“Well, holy s**t...” Glide muttered, crouching down and grasping Senpuu’s hilt. He pulled the blade up and flicked the switch on its pommel, the teeth lining the edges slowing to a stop. “Ten years and this puppy’s still workin’.” He smirked, giving the enormous blade a quick twirl, purring to himself; the blade still felt like an extension of his arm. “Like you never left.”

What was left of Kalma stared at him.

“What?” Glide growled. “You have somethin’ to say to me, ‘warrior’? You even f****n’ remember me, or has the chainsaw eating through your brain for ten years fucked with your memory?” He paused, kicking the undead warrior’s head. “If I didn’t need this thing, I would’ve left it in your head. But I do, so... in the name of Therali, god of life and of death, he who watches over every birth, every death, and every resurrection, I condemn you to the Ninth Layer of Hell.” He brought Senpuu up, as if to strike with it, then delivered another hard kick to the warrior’s head, his boot caving Kalma’s skull in.

Nodding to himself, he turned to leave. After a few steps, he turned back and, on a whim, drew a circle in the dirt with his blade. “Open sesame, or something.”

Surprisingly, the circle began glowing brightly. Glide stepped into the circle, a pillar of light surrounding him.
