This is completely my writing. I dreamed this, and it became part of the plotline.

“I’ll bite you, I swear!” Niqi shouted at Ambree, shoving her through the doorway. She wasn’t really aware where they were stumbling as they argued.

Shetani glanced up at the two from the book she was reading without getting up off of the sand. She turned back to the pages after a moment. “At it again,” she sighed, shaking her head. “Having those two bunk together was a bad idea.”

Felix, sunbathing a few feet from her, shrugged. “They’ve had to stay rather close together for a few weeks now without distractions, and you know how easy it was for them to get angry at each other when there was actually something going on. It’s probably just cabin fever.” He paused for a moment. “What do you think started it this time?”

“Does it really matter?” Shetani asked, rolling her eyes. She flipped the page, trying to concentrate. “Could you two at least argue a bit quieter?” she snapped after a moment, turning towards them.

Neither of them paid her any notice.

“You’re a f*****g b***h,” Ambree spat.

Niqi stared at Ambree blankly. “Yes, I am a female dog. Your point?”

Shetani turned back to her book, deciding to just block them out. “Useless,” she muttered.

“I’ll deport you back to your f*****g home-world!” Niqi growled. She picked Ambree up by the back of her shirt, as if it were the scruff of her neck, and then actually took out her Nexus key and opened a nearby door into the Nexus.

Felix raised his eyebrows, sitting up and looking at the door as Niqi carried Ambree through. “Did she seriously just do that?”

“I’m sure they’ll be back,” Shetani replied.

“Put me down!” Ambree screeched, kicking and clawing at Niqi with little effect.

Niqi smirked, opening the door to Seisen and attempting to throw her in. Ambree held on for dear life, however, and ended up pulling Niqi down with her.

The two girls immediately started coughing as they landed in a scraggly, half-dead patch of grass. A light green fog covered the plains they landed in, leaving only a few other scraggly, half-dead patches of grass in sight.

“What the hell?” Niqi forced out, wheezing and hardly able to breathe.

Ambree couldn’t respond; she began coughing up blood.

Alarmed, Niqi fumbled to get the Nexus key into the lock on the door of the shack they had emerged from. She flung it open as soon as she got it in, and then dragged Ambree back into the Nexus, pulling the door closed on the way.

The girls lay in a crumpled heap, coughing for a few minutes until it dissolved into heavy breathing.

“What the f**k was that?” Ambree asked, repressing the urge to cough again. “Do you think we came out in the middle of the Dragonspine?”

Niqi shook her head, although Ambree couldn’t see due to the fact that she was sprawled across her sideways. Niqi noticed this and promptly shoved her off. “I didn’t see any mountains,” she replied.

“Could it – could it have been a valley in the Dragonspine?” Ambree asked, her voice starting to break.

Niqi’s eyes widened in realization – if it wasn’t the Dragonspine, it could be anywhere, including once-inhabited places. She was scrambling for leverage. “I…I don’t think so,” Niqi finally answered.

Ambree made a strange choked-back sobbing sound. “What the hell happened to my planet!?” she suddenly wailed loudly.

“Pull yourself together,” Niqi said, sitting up.

Ambree sat up and covered her face with her hands. They quickly clenched into fists.

Niqi, uncomfortable and unsure what to do, put her hand on Ambree’s back. “Hey…it’s not completely hopeless, is it?” She received no response. She sighed and got up again, opening the door to Seisen a small crack without breathing. It came out somewhere different – but she could still see the green fog. She closed it and sighed, slumping down against the wall and facing Ambree. “Alright, maybe it is hopeless.”

What lovely words of encouragement Niqi thought.

They sat in silence for a few moments, Ambree still covering her face.

“Look, I know what it’s like,” Niqi murmured. “When Earth was destroyed…” She trailed off, and then sighed. “I’m sorry. For this, and for the fight.”

Ambree finally moved. She uncovered her face, wiping her eyes. “I’ve got a horrible hunch,” she mumbled. She got up and started walking.

Niqi stood as well, following her.

The two arrived at the door to Tendou.

“Oh no. You can’t mean you think that…” Niqi let the sentence hang, staring at the door.

Ambree swallowed and opened the door. A toxic green fog was also covering that planet’s surface.

“Oh f**k no,” Niqi muttered, eyes wide.

They both ran to the door to Yochinai, and discovered the same thing there as well.

They went around opening random doors, and then doors to places they’d been; Aytar, Hygeia, Kirmei… All of them were in pristine condition. It was only the planets they’d saved that were suddenly covered in toxic gas.

They met back at the door to Saikoro, neither of them ready to open it and go tell the others.

Niqi kicked the wall in frustration. “Why can’t we ever have a real vacation?”

Let me guess; by saving a planet that was meant to have been destroyed, they created some kind of paradox?
o.O

Either way; eep.
