This is completely the writing of my friend. Glide makes a rather disturbing decision.

Niqi and Ambree followed Shetani out of the Snapdragon. Surprisingly, Glide was still outside. “That’s not good...” Shetani murmured.

“Shetani!” Glide barked. “Orb me up there. I’d like to have a little face-to-face with Therali.”

Shetani sighed softly, stepping forward and taking Glide’s paw. “As you command.” She said.

Niqi watched the orbs of light shoot toward the sky, hoping that everything would go well.

A few seconds later, the Varixian and the goddess returned. “That b*****d...” Glide hissed, fists clenched. “If things like this happen when I try to save the omniverse, I’m just gonna f*****g destroy it!” He leapt into the air, a pillar of bright light surrounding him. When the light dimmed, he was gone.

“What the hell was that?” Niqi asked. “I didn’t think he could teleport.”

“He can’t.” Shetani replied. “Something really weird is going on...”

“Yeah.” Ambree nodded. “Something’s wrong, Glide just vowed to destroy the omniverse. What happened up there?”

“... Therali refused.” Shetani said after a moment. “He refused to bring Felix back.”

“And by doing so, doomed the omniverse.” Niqi stated.

Shetani shook her head. “Not even Glide can destroy the omniverse alone. If he really plans to do it, he’ll have to amass an army. The ice planet Arctan would be the perfect place for him to start; the mages of Menos Muerte have a powerful warrior imprisoned there, and if Glide frees him...”

“Then there’s no time to waste.” Niqi said. “We need to get to Arctan immediately.”

Shetani nodded, her eyes beginning to glow. “I can get us there faster than the Nexus can.” She said, pitching a sphere of dark energy forward. The sphere exploded, a portal appearing. “It’s going to close once I go through, so you two will have to go first.”

“I’ll scout the area.” Niqi said, passing through the portal, Ambree close behind her.

Please, let all of this be some sort of misunderstanding... Shetani thought, entering the portal.

Glide twirled his guandao above his head, glaring at the pair of mages blocking his path. “Move aside or be moved. I’m here for the warrior.”

One of the mages immediately took cover. The other, a young male with glowing green eyes, stood his ground, defiant. “Move me.” He challenged.

“You think your pathetic show of defiance will stop me?” Glide smirked, tightening his grip on Deliverance and driving the blade into the mage’s stomach. “A single life, what’s that to me? A fading light no one can see, and such a pleasure death can be...”

The mage gasped, collapsing as soon as Glide yanked his weapon free. With the last of his strength, he coughed out an incantation, finishing it just as Glide passed through the doorway to the prison. The doors swung shut behind the Varixian, sealed by the spell.

That's just great...” Glide muttered, speaking in Vari, as he was only speaking to himself. “I should’ve taken his head off. Guess I’ll have to bust them down on the way back.

Realizing that talking to himself wouldn't bring him any closer to his goals, he shook his head, descending the staircase before him and searching for the warrior said to be held within the prison.

Glide’s ears perked, picking up the sound of screams of agony, deep within the prison. Deciding they were his best bet, he followed the sounds, deeper and deeper below the ground.

After a few minutes of walking through the subterranean prison, Glide came upon the imprisoned warrior. He was blindfolded, his wrists and ankles shackled behind his back, a thick chain connecting the sets of shackles. Pulses of sound were coming at him from all directions, likely the cause of his screams.

Glide glanced around, noting the sources of the sound pulses; five crystals mounted on the walls and ceiling, runes etched into them. A quick barrage of dark energy destroyed the crystals, stopping the sound.

The warrior raised his head, ears swiveling. He opened his mouth, a pulse of sound striking Glide a ricocheting back to him. “You’re not one of the wardens...” The warrior whispered.

Glide reached through the bars of the bat-creature’s cage, raising his blindfold. “How long have you been in here?”

“Three thousand years.” The warrior replied. “Who are you?”

“Who I am isn’t important.” Glide said, sliding his blade through the bars and cutting through the warrior’s chains. “What is important is who you are.”

The warrior stood up, shaking slightly, trying to regain his senses. “I’m Dham Alandrax.” He said after a moment.

Glide raised an eyebrow. “Dham? The vampire god?”

Dham nodded, slipping his lithe form through the bars. “Thank you. You know, for the rescue. I was supposed to spend eternity in this horrid place.”

“Come. We have work to do.” Glide said, turning and heading toward the stairs.

Dham followed him, stumbling and falling after the first few steps. “Damn it...” He hissed, getting to one knee. “I suppose, after spending three millennia on my knees, walking is going to take some getting used to...”

Glide sighed, rubbing his temples. “I’ll just carry you. We don’t exactly have time to wait while you get your legs working right.”
