Ambree Shouldn't Pick Destinations

A Chapter by Star Catcher
"

This is not my writing, this is completely the writing of my friend. Yochinai isn't anyone's idea of a good vacation. There are too many hassles; the dense vision-obstructing fog, no good restaurants in the area, the planet making a negative of you...

"

“Everybody ready?” Glide asked, moving to open the door leading to Yochinai. “Let’s go.” He said, turning the knob and shoving the door open. A dense fog covered the surface of the planet, obstructing vision. “Guys, stay here for a sec. Let me see if this place is safe.”

“Don’t do anything stupid.” Shetani grinned.

“Whatever.” Glide muttered, rolling his eyes. He stepped through the doorway, into the fog, only getting a few feet before falling to his knees, clutching at his head. He bit back a scream, teeth bared in a twisted, pained snarl.

“Come on,” Niqi said, “we have to help him.”

“No.” Shetani snapped, grabbing Niqi by the tail. “We have to stay on this side of the doorway. Who knows what could happen to you mortals, if even Glide is in pain?”

Niqi reluctantly stepped back. “I hope he’ll be okay…”

Horror quickly turned to amazement as a pair of gray-furred arms phased through Glide, followed by a Varixian head. Glide collapsed, the second Varixian rising to his full height and smirking coldly at him. “Don’t just lay there…” It sneered. “Get up, weakling.”

“Is it just me,” Lujuria murmured, “or does he sound just like Glide…?”

“It’s not just you.” Ambree responded. “I hear it, too.”

“A negative.” Shetani stated. “A manifestation of all the power within a person.”

The negative delivered a hard kick to Glide’s side, knocking the Varixian boy onto his back. “Familiar position, isn’t it?” It smirked, crouching down and grabbing Glide by his vest, pulling him to his feet. “You’ll never be able to save anyone. You’re weak. You’ve always been weak, and you’ll always be weak. You could train until the end of time, and you’d still never be strong enough.”

“But…I’m the hero…” Glide mumbled, staring at his negative, his eyes unfocused.

“You’re nothing!” The negative growled, driving his knee into Glide’s stomach. The Varixian boy doubled over, coughing up a bit of blood. “Worthless!” The negative spat, slamming his elbow down on the back of Glide’s neck and knocking him to the ground. “You disgust me. You don’t deserve your weapons. You don’t deserve your lovers. And you don’t deserve your sons.”

That’s not true!” Davis roared, surprising everyone by lunging through the doorway.

The negative caught Davis by the throat, lifting him into the air. “Look at this. Even your own son knows you can’t fight your own battles. You would’ve died on Seisen, had it not been for Shetani’s power.” He kicked Glide again before turning his attention back to Davis. “Daddy’s little boy needs to stay out of grown-up business.”

“Hey, a*****e, put my brother down.” Sandy snarled, stepping into the fog. “Or I’ll rip you to shreds myself.”

“Have it your way.” The negative shrugged, heaving Davis at Sandy and knocking them both back through the doorway, the door slamming behind them.

“F**k, get the door open!” Niqi yelped. “Hurry!”

Shetani leapt over Sandy and Davis, shoving the door open. Glide was still laying on the ground, but his negative was nowhere in sight.

“Ambree.” The Varixian boy muttered. “You don’t get to choose our destinations anymore. Seriously.”

As soon as Niqi passed through the doorway, she went through the same ordeal as Glide, collapsing as her negative phased into existence. Her negative, unlike Glide’s, simply regarded her with an uninterested glance. “When you’re ready…we’ll find you.” It said, disappearing into the fog.

Glide got to his feet, dusting himself off and helping Niqi up. “You okay?”

“I think so…” Niqi muttered. “At least I didn’t get beat down.”

Shetani waved a paw, a pair of black jeans and a cashmere sweater materializing on her. “Much better. It’s quite cold here, isn’t it?”

“Yeah.” Lujuria agreed, shivering. “I’m f-f-freezing…”

Once everyone had passed through the doorway, Glide slammed the door. “How could that guy hit so f*****g hard?”

“He’s you.” Shetani said.

“Wait, you mean I hit that hard?” Glide asked. “Why the hell didn’t anybody tell me? That was like getting hit with one of those jumbo-sized TVs…”

Ricky shrugged. “We figured you knew your own strength. After all, you punched a hole in a concrete wall at one point.”

“Well, now I know for sure.” Glide said, rubbing the back of his neck. “Ow, f**k…Man, when I find that f****r, I’m gonna knock his a*s out and perform a coup de grâce with a rock…”

""Familiar position, isn't it?""
OH SHI-
I laughed hysterically for about... oh... sixty seconds.
xD

""Ambree." The Varixian boy muttered. "You don't get to choose our destinations anymore. Seriously.""
'Nuff said.

"Wait, you mean I hit that hard? Why the hell didn't anybody tell me?"
They were too busy howling in pain, perhaps?
