Sweet Sacrifice

Sweet Sacrifice

A Poem by Stacie Dayton

Emptiness.
This is the beginning of our goodbye.
All the longing, passion, desire.
Everything I've had that lies within you.
I watch you as you go.
Hoping.
Despite the truths you and I are closer than the miles.
I know your reasons, I have all along.
Yet somehow now everything is colder.
My darkness circles around me.
You were all I wanted.
You were more than you knew.
My beautiful stranger that became a thief in the night.
I wish you well on your journeys.
Somehow I will learn to open myself again.
I only turned my head because I knew I had to.
My tears for you always fell internally.
I watch you go- my sweet sacrifice.
And when the arms of another hold me I will always know that you have taken a part of me I never knew I had.
A part I never want returned.
