Just once-lucky fate

Just once-lucky fate

A Poem by Sravya Chodisetti

Now you say, I am not safe…
I should not go alone into the outer space.
Now you take it away, the thing I longed for..
The long-lost freedom, I could die for.!

And when I ask, ‘what is my mistake?’
You say that, its my once-lucky fate.
And I rewind my life to see how it all started,
Oh! the point when I became a girl and was departed.

Once-lucky fate? oh yea that’s true..
I could open my eyes to see you.
Else the only thing that would have happened is,
I would have been sleeping inside, forever in peace…

You know who is to be blamed?
The boys, the law or the country that’s lame?
No… it’s the minds and souls of our people..
Our people?? no.. our people have minds very feeble..

Nothing can be changed now..
For it’s all done and won’t be different anyhow..
If anything goes wrong, they say,
It’s all the girl’s fault and her way.

So yes, you were absolutely true…
These just-once-lucky girls in this world are very few…
Sorry not my fault mom..
Now all that can be done is silent prayers we can hum……..
