A poet lives through the nourishment that his/her own egotistical heart delivers via quill dipped from inkwell of muse to the canvas of page, one precious drop at a time, be that succulent nectar the sweetest combs of honey, or the deadly drippings of venom's savored at the thought of vengeance near ... We learn to play a musical instrument for own own self-gratification. This, in my opinion, is the primary motivation. Only secondarily does there come a desire to share our music with others. So it is with our written words. They are for ourselves first, then others. Since music and poetry are such inward-looking representations of a bit of our essence, their first nurture is selfish, without need of approbation. Reviews lift our spirits due to the knowledge that others are listening and tell us. You state in few words what it has taken me a research paper to find the words I need to say to you, well done, hoping that you find a little more nurture than that which is self-motivated.
Well done!

Some write for themselves, if doesn't matter whether people will review their work. if others will read or review, it would be considered as a bonus. But if our intention really is to write to impress others, i could imagine the frustration if no one reads our Magnum opus.

Thank You, it makes sense what you said and very true.
well, here is one. we write because we have to write, reviews or not, it sustains us.
i like what you say here...i'm inclined to feel that i am more of a conduit and am not responsible for what i write...so i guess if there are no reviews, it's the muse who gets none..
