Irish LassesA Poem by SusanJust thinking of my mother and me...IRISH LASSES
An Irish lass was she. With her fair skin. And deep blue eyes. THough she was of mixed breed at that. She was still proud of her Irish heritage. Come St. Patricks Day, she'd wear her green proudly. And honor her mother on this special day. For me mother was born on this day and was Irish. Mother and daughter. Though years apart in age, close in spirit. Both had their wicked and warped sense of humor.. LIke mother, like daughter. Both loved and trusted fiercely those in their lives. Though neither had been to Ireland. It ran still in deep waters in both of them. They shared a love of celtic things, whether it was music or art. Twas a sad day for all, when me mother joined her Angel on high. And left me behind. But now i know, that I shall always have my Irish Angel watchin over me.
