My Holiday letter

A Story by Susan
"

Just describing the past year for myself. Not really a poem, story...just an open letter to everyone...

December 2008

Greetings!

What a year it has been. In the beginning, there was famine and despair. There was a sense of hopelessness. For I had lost my job in late 2007 and had been searching for months now, with no hope.

It soon turned into excitement. My family & I had decided to sell our house in Las Vegas NV and move to Albuquerque NM. Disappointment ran rampart as our house as rejected time and time again…We did not think it would see with the market the way it was. Bankruptcy ran high in town. Rumors of people just up and leaving their homes and possessions, in the middle of the night.

Springtime came, as did hope once more. Our house sold within 3 months. Unheard of in Las Vegas. By early June, we were out here in Albuquerque, living in my brother’s tiny house. Yikes! What was I thinking! All of us in his house, cramped together. Three adults, 2 cats, & 2 dogs! Holy crap!

Spring turned into summer. Humidity strikes as the monsoon season comes into full swing. Still no job, after searching for almost 9 months….My self esteem was so down, that I could not find it. Though I had an apartment to call my own… Holy Toledo! My own place and so much to unpack. Cripes!

Summer ends with JOY In my heart, as I get a NEW JOB!!!!!!!!!!! Strike up the band!!!!!! YIPEE!!!!!!!

Fall was great! A new job, a place of my own, a church that I really enjoyed, new friends, life was turning good for a change after a year of constant struggle…

During the fall, there was Halloween to celebrate with decorations, parting and dancing the night away. There was a bout of acute bronchitis to get over and recover from.

As fall drew to a close, and thanksgiving came and went, winter crept in, with lots of chilly mornings….BRRR> Where is that winter blanket!

In the meantime, I have kept busy with writing lots of stories and poetry. Wherever the muse takes me, I go and explore…Which reminds all of my writing friends on writerscafe.org, who have encouraged me and  been there with all their support when I was going thru some tough times…Thank you.

Winter brings some old challenges back in to my life with snow and ice… We shall see what life has yet to give…I know that I am open and receptive to all that is good that  the universe has to offer.

I want to wish you all a joyous and happy holiday season. May the new year be a great one for you. Wishing you all the best of health, prosperity, love, joy, friendship, family and abundance in your life.

Remember, be good to yourself always and take care of yourself.

Love,

Susan

I'm happy for you...;) Yeah, life is filled with challenges nowadays. What always seemed so safe and available has become completely unreliable. Houses going down in value and jobs evaporating into thin air.

I hope your coming year is as successful as this one was. And thanks for the send.
