The Tightrope of Life

Here i am, standing barefoot on the highwire, the tight rope of life.

My feet balanced oh so carefully, toes gripping the rope.

My arms outstretched, hands holding the balancing pole of support.

TO my right, is my family.

To my left, are my friends.

Do i dare walk across this thin rope, with just the pole to support me.

If i look down, will there be a net to catch me or despair and darkness.

Do i dare inch my way across this thin rope of life.

Will my pole support me.

Will i waver and drop it.

Or will it snap in half and fall.

Leaving me stranded and hanging on for dear life.

If my eyes remain open, my heart believing, my grip tight, i can make it across.

If my eyes remain shut, my heart closed, i will slip and fall.

The choices are mine to make.

I walk across this tightrope of life, holding on, daring....

the end.

The thing is, I've had that balancing act too.. friends or family, family or friends and at the end of the day, I decided to give my time to the person/s who deserved it and appreciated the time most.... me. Family learns to appreciate what they get and well friends? they come and go and if they call you friend then they would also make time for you too. So balance away but don't let it cause you such tension... trust me no one is worth it that much.. great read..

Sue, I particularly like the way you open this visually introspective pondering that takes the reader, and places them upon the rope spanning the distance between understanding and failing, reading your words- one gets a vivid impression of what

defines success- support- accomplishment- those who lend themselves to goal of life withing reason, as well as the consequenses when losing focus and what could ultimately happen if the heart becomes closed to the truth, and acceptance,

there's a cetain aspect to the vision that leaves the reader hanging on.. wondering what is going to be the end result, nicely installed into the design, Nicely done. Take Care, Mike,

Good write... what an exploration of your self!! Keep inching onward across the rope but, hey... loosen your grip a bit on that balancing pole... it'll give you more balance and the tension in your hands, arms and shoulders decreases. ;~)

I like this.
