The Only Color

The Only Color

A Poem by Sporadic Soul
"

This is the first part of the story "Alive but Dead"

"

Once there was a woman
"A witch" she was named as
Her life was a dull picture
A mixture of gray and black
Another color in the picture
was a sin
She had a daughter
whose father was a traveler
who abandoned her
Before the sun was even up
After the passionate night
The daughter was beautiful
Serene and fragile
She was always near death
Her mother, who treasured her most
Treasured the only bright color she had
Tried to fight the sickness
But it was stronger
Not everyday was a day
Some days were nights
That day was one of them
When death finally took her
The only beauty she had
Desperate and lonely
She used it again
The power which will bring her back
A small cold bottle
She placed atop her chest
In it was the dark of her powers...
