Stoneflesh

Stoneflesh

A Poem by Hallow

I'm thinking of leaving.
Goodbye, adíos, and adieu.
My soul hurts so much,
There's nothing to do.

Another day in, out.
No relief or remorse.
Skies that stay grey, cold.
It's just me, of course.

Eyes closed shut and tight
To envision dreams.
Teeming forest, alive
All the fresh, bright greens.

Open again, feel it now
The weight of the world.
Ghostly caress, chill wind,
My head is a whirl.

Convoluted thoughts
Only lead astray.
Listen to the ghosts,
It will keep evil at bay.

This reminded me of my own chaotic thoughts, that often clouds my own mind. But closed eyes reveal a beautiful forest. It reminded me we must all seek out our “happy place” at times. Thank you for sharing your writing.

That happy place is all that's left sometimes. As always, thank you for reading.
