A Poem by Hallow

And I'm so sorry
It's come now to this.
You were a hit,
I was just a miss.

I loved too hard.
I should've stayed safe.
Where am I now?
I'm at Hell's gate

I did it, again
I fell so hard, I forgot
Who I am, where I was
This neverending plot

I love you so much
Please, remember this
How special you are
That you're always missed.

And I'm so very sorry
I'm being so silly
I'm so melodramatic
All these feelings spilling

There's no going back.
The deed is now done.
Wait through the night
Until I see a black sun.

I just want you to know
How special you are.
I just can't bear anymore
All this love from afar.

I hope you grow old
In the snowy mountains.
I hope you enjoy youth
A blossoming fountain.

I'm so sorry, the theatrics
I've let them in again.
These voices, they speak
They won't let me mend.

I'm sorry it's so long
I'll end this right here.
You have my heart, always,
The night is long, I fear.

Did the speaker in this poem break off a long-distance relationship only because of the distance, wanting to move on, or their insecurity? I felt it really was the latter and now the speaker is having regrets for breaking it off. This could have been something good had the speaker took the risk and allowed themselves to grow into what seemed a great relationship. Or maybe it was just time to move on?
