Janus

Janus

A Poem by Hallow

As the day now comes drawing near
There is an ever looping fear
To look back at all I have done
To watch their faces in the sun.
They seem to smile, happy, free
Their voices buzzing like a bee.
Until they aren't, they change again
Until they aren't my dearest friends.
A fork-ed tongue and evil eyes
All I hear are these silly lies.
I let the fire bathe their words
My jagged thoughts turn to a slur
White hot daggers, they pierce my back
But it was me that forced their track.
Blink again, I see clarity
As of late, is the rarity
The faces change, gentle beings
The ones. But I saw them, scheming.
Alas, maybe it was my head
Making me a hellfire bed.

Author's Note

Hallow
It's ironic I used 8 syllables. I absolutely despise the number 8.
