A nobody takes a walk

"

You wake up. You get dressed. You walk out your door. Nothing different happens. As you begin your walk you stop to feel the soft gust of wind that hits the back of your head leaving nothing but silence after it passes. You wake up at exactly 12 am every night and go on this walk. You know why you don't sleep at night anymore but you wouldn't prefer to think about that right now. You take the route no one else wants to solely for the purpose of isolation. Your shoes hit the wet concrete as you hear faint sirens mixed with a nearby gutter dripping water from the rain from that had fallen the previous day.

You've traveled about one quarter of your 8 mile walk when a woman wearing a large dark violet trench coat, along with obviously pricey earrings and a pair of red velvet slippers comes up next to you, saying nothing, and decides to follow you at your side. At first you are slightly excited at the sight of another person approaching you so confidently, but then you access the situation and question in your head what a seemingly moderately class woman like her would be doing up at such a late and dangerous time considering it wasn't uncommon for various crimes to take place along your route. You begin to scratch your wrist nervously, she notices and asks you whats wrong. You don't answer, you don't talk, you never talk why didn't she know that, why are you being so judgmental whats wrong with you I hate you just ru-, no, this isn't what they would want. They would want you to talk to her and start a conversation but instead you just keep walking in silence. She tells you she's sorry if she's disturbed you and you want to say she done nothing of the sort, rather the opposite in fact, but you don’t. She stops and almost unconsciously so do you.

You both stand in silence waiting in the middle of a wet, worn sidewalk, staring directly at your shoes, in the corner of your eye you see that she turns her head to look at you. You don't look back you continue to stare at the ground feeling no obligation to look up whatsoever. You begin to think of everything, this isn't what you wanted to happen come on snap out of it you're not supposed to think about those things anymore they're in the past just stop before you do something bad please just listen just talk to her tell her anything don't think of them you're going to b-, oh, you're crying. Its okay at least she's still here. Oh, she left too. You made her far too uncomfortable, this is why you only walk at night you cant deal with these situations. Just go back home you should go calm down before you continue your walk. You sprint home and you  feel as if everyone is focusing directly at you, despite no one being anywhere near, you hate it. You cant live like this anymore you're so tired of life and being alone and losing everything and living in your s****y apartment. You need to get home now.

You reach your doorstep, tears run down your eyes as you open the door. She's there holding a gun pointed directly at you. you react instinctively at first and feel a burning urge to run, but then you begin to think. All the people you loved and cared for. All of th- you're laughing. You're laughing a lot. Whats wrong with you, you twisted f**k stop it, no, keep laughing, you cant stop. You hear her ask “what the f**k is wrong with you…” as you take six nine millimeter bullets to the chest. You're still laughing too and as you lay on the floor dying you realize life will go on, you realize nothing is real, you realize you're life is over, amidst your laughing, you mumble your final words, “thank you”. Your life leaves your body but at the same time a sense of peace and euphoria rush through you. Standing on the cold concrete ground a tear drops from the woman’s face. she turns quickly as if to run, but she stops herself to stare at her work, then proceeds to sprint out of that same you had walked down all those times before. I guess this is the end of the suffering.

No, not yet. A darkness that slowly pushes itself over your eyes is pushed back by sheer willpower. You crawl over to the side of the alley and lift yourself up to your feet, you wont let death take you, not after all you've been through. You assume this to be your final stand, as the bullet wounds aren- no, you cant think about weakness, just run. taking advantage of pure adrenaline, you sprint down the alleyway screaming. You're eyes dart to any area of interest, searching for the woman. You pause as you reach the end of the alleyway, and by surprise you cough up a surreal amount of blood and your mind begins to wonder. You think to yourself that you should stop and accept fate, just like down and go into a final slumber. No. You won’t. You look across the street after you've finished coughing and spot a woman in the violet clothing. Before you can even think you sprint across the street just barely dodging a car, but you don't pay any attention to that. You here her say something but it all sounds like a blur and she takes off. You chase after her as you feel the buildings to the right of you crumble as you pass them, you look behind you to see if this is all really happening and your met with a black void, the same darkness you were forced to fight back near death. As you turn your head to face the woman again, you find yourself putting yourself in a mindset in which everything thats unknown to you, are rather simple facts you've been aware of for years. You grab a trashy wooden bat off the ground as you run not questioning its odd placement as you fall deeper and deeper into a delirious fit of madness and rage. Your hands meet the bat with a surge of power that spreads throughout your entire body as you begin to run faster and faster. Bat in swinging position you reach the woman and slam the bat across the back of her head with the force of a thousand gods, splitting her into three different clones of herself. At this point, all noise is being played at once in your head. You can only hear everything. You scream, as fire rises from under your feet, and you swing a second time, this time hitting all three women, knocking them all down. Without hesitation you rush over to the leftmost body on the ground and use pure force and gravity to bring the bat upon the pavement, missing her head as she and the other clones roll over in unison looking at you in pure horror. You look up and realize nearly everything has turned into a darkness. You drop the bat walking towards her as she slowly walks back step by step, crying out of fear. You can no longer tell what you look like or how you feel, you don't know if you even have a facial expression to control. You grab her by the arm and, all energy begins to fall out of it. your arm is now completely numb and useless, you can no longer move it. You summon all the power you've ever felt in that s**t life you lived if you can even think of it as a life, and you scream as you release all the anger within you.

You open your eyes one last time seeing your body lying in the alleyway, feeling nothing but a bittersweet confusion as you breathe your last breath, and go softly unto your final goodnight.
