Winged IllusionsA Poem by Latonya HughesA vision of an angel came to me, In beautiful and radiating light… My eyes, illuminated by the sight; A creature of this world, he couldn’t be. With voice as thunderous as raging sea, And feathered wings, awash in snowy white... He spoke of joy and pleasures infinite, And happiness through all eternity. Oh, how the angel did disguise intent, Striking me down at my most unaware… Foolishly, I believed love's proclaimant, Foolishly, I believed that he did care. And now, I sit in winter's discontent, Frozen by consequence of human err. -spokenhues
