The Black HoleA Poem by Latonya HughesA poem about a most mysterious celestial phenomenon.Deep within a distant realm, Where the shadows overwhelm; Hope is of no magnitude, And fear is posted at the helm. Darker than the darkest night… Barring every trace of sight, Perilous, mysterious; Immune to any source of light. Blaringly devoid of sound… Only nothingness around; Vast, unending vacancy, That emptiness supplies abound. Borne of womb of hell, it hath, Dealt a most ferocious wrath; By consuming whole, the souls Of beings trapped inside its path. Like a vacuum, it will feed, Swallowing all, without heed; Infinite in appetite, , And unabashed in its greed. As its measurements extend, Time and space begin to bend; Astronomical events, That no man or machine can mend. Garnering enormous mass, Letting nothing near it pass; Everything will disappear, From speck of dust, to cloud of gas. Sorrowful the fate that looms, Leading to impeding doom; Star and ship alike, beware The dismal, unrelenting tomb. -spokenhues.
