Thumbing through the pages of the book of life

Thumbing through the pages of the book of life

Pages turn silently
as sand drains through glass
light reflects through clarity
into pieces shared by reality
and he bends on hands and knees
with fingers bleeding
he tries to repair the twine
that has unwind
unraveled time
within only his mind
he sees the reflection
of a broken spirit
trampled by the dirty feet
of men who sleep in white houses
and work on capital hills
where the market bull ruled the day
and sinners played at night
spinning love into lust
upon the back of lies
woven from the fragments
of man's character
now diluted by
principalities in high places
Santa Clause with a dirty white beard
and fingers dipped in green ink
told fables of distant promises
to calm the masses from seeing
reality of life and death....

"PEACE" whispers the angel
into the ear of the man
who now plays with his blood
trying to turn it from life giving
into magic to heal the earth
a genius in his own right
he compiles formulas
that should reverse time
bringing life back into our soil
return vibrant blues into the gray sky
extract the poison from water
returning it to clarity
once again a healing power
rebirth of trees
to give us fresh oxygen
but the Angels speaks
"Why do you wast the time you have left?"
and the man cries burning tears
into his scared hands
his hurt mixes with the hard clay of the earth
"My children, our future, my God! What have we done?"
with an angelic smile the angel
sits by the side of the last man on earth
to comfort him as the truth now comes to light
"Everything has a beginning and an end
says, the Alpha and Omega"
and the angel takes his hand
to lead him home
returned to the dust
where he once came from

Here's such a beginning and an end.. and, here's so many thoughts and emotions filling the pillow upon which your busy mind leans. Intriguing stuff. Somehow you've stretched time across here to there with mention of 'power-full' and financial greed and the storm it creates for the small man, the man who wants/needs to live a life.
Then you fly on to what could and can be, from the sad urge to magic what we have into something so wonderful that Heaven need shake in its space. Enter the would-be bountiful angel who calls to tell you the truth and nothing but: whatever we are, however we are, we all end up the same.
Sorry, gone on far too long, have read twice, thought far more.

:-) As always your writing has depth and meaning. I wish , we as people could see all that we are about to do wrong before we do it, because in the end there is not enough time to change the wrong we might have done. In reality there isn't actually enough time for one life to live out as we purely wish~~

introspective writing is superb..you have dug deep to give us a sense of searching for answers..where truly we have them but more often than not choose not to listen..lovely work

the journey of the hominid~ it's the middle of the story that most miss~ desperate to graps the youth of the past~desperate to avoid the inevitable future of dust to dust~they miss the poignant point of living in the moment fully~ graceful poem~ graceful hope

and mother nature will always survive~ at some point she will simply have to shake the dirt of us off her shoulder to survive~

"Everything has a beginning and an end

I believe that there will be justice! And there will be an end to all this suffering. So yes.........there is comfort in these pages you speak of. Beautiful writing! xo
