From Eden with Love

From Eden with Love

A Poem by SpokenWord

Everybody knows that they are guilty
Everybody knows that they have lied
Everybody knows...

That we close our eyes to being human
while draping impunity over our skin
our cloak of protection above our sins
parting our soul from our flesh
we embrace knowledge instead of wisdom
intelligent enough to send men to the moon
stupidly we pollute our air, land and seas

progress of a "wise" society

masters of mass-confusion
bachelors in past illusions
deceivers of love and caring
kneel on bended knees with head lowered
eyes cast downward to the land of hell
they pray to their invisible God
who lives on earth in a building
made of brick and wood
decorated in gold with glass stained in his blood
beauty in the eyes of man
prison for the heart of woman
my Master teaches that
where I find man's treasures
is where I will find man's heart
Citi-Corp, Wall Street, Bank of America
greed is rich in the hearts of men

Our first black president a dud?
idealist who believed
we are more important than profits
he thought he could make a difference
by standing up to the established rich
our economy is dieing
because they don't want him re-elected
we are too blind to see
that it is banks, and big business
who keep us in depression
because Obama was to proud to play ball

How can we support someone
who doesn't understand the rules of the game
that we elected him into?

an intelligent man lost in a land without wisdom

Love requires a sacrifice
that we're not willing to give
it would require us to care for each other
to accept everyone as equal
to treat all with respect
and listen to our hearts more
than we listen to our intelligence
one is of God and the other is of the flesh

The difference is life and death
there is no impunity of the spirit
we are all responsible for this
s**t hole we created called earth

No wonder God removed us from Eden

Everybody knows that they are guilty
Everybody knows that they have lied
Everybody knows, but no one cares
The games we the people play

~ We are intelligent highly creative creatures who lack the wisdom and love to wield the power that intelligence has given us.. thus we're fools and prisoners to our Government, Religion and Society ~

When one tries o remove God from the Pledge of Allegiance, prayer, and strip away our morals, the Eden we've known in society, or "good old days", will become removed by God's wraith and judgement. Our presidents are nothing more than empty minded puppets. So with the new election we will just be voting in a nother puppet in need of a teleprompter to talk the talk. So many topics, so many thoughts..........I really enjoyed this poem.

Very different writing. Very thought provoking, I liked it. Not sure where your coming from on some matters but agree with a lot and definitely agree with your passion.

Did I note a tip of the cap at Leonard Cohen in the beginning of this one? I liked the piece. Come November 2012 we will have two candidates who lie cheat and steal, and accuse the other of being the Antichrist.... we will elect one of them. I hope we all wake up and pick another road to go down communally as a more educated country

Could feel your passion, bankers have changed the legal meaning of "person"
A heartless money grubbing corporation, now is a person, not a breathing
soul, you have written this well ,from your heart~

some of us will take personal responsibility for our part in the devastation of humanity and the earth~ but when hominids take global responsibility~that's when things will begin to shift toward enlightened consciousness~ powerful and edgy with a serrated edge~ your poem is a sharp blade that penetrates the conscience~

my mom always told me; love doesn't put food on the table....and how can we possibly help others when we can't ourselves...how can i help someone without them depending on me....survival is tough...we turn a blind eye because we can all go hungry and turn into animals...protection and hoarding seems to be what goes on...

It is a synchronistic moment to read this piece of yours; as always - your methods are sharp, intense, intelligent and profound in ways that evokes so much emotion and thought. I am into watching the OWN network now (Oprah Winfrey Network); and last night there was a segment done on Primetime from a comparison between two neighborhoods that are on 10 minutes away from each other in NJ (Moorestown and Camden) The kids in Moorestown are priviledged with huge homes, wealth and peace; then the comparison to Camden was horrendous...a little 4 yr old boy dreams of having a home, he didn't know what breakfast, lunch and dinner was...he dreamed about learning how to read...it broke my heart

There are many solid points in this piece in which I agree with. Don't get me started on governments. They are all corrupt on some level. Ours is no different. We are told lies everyday and there are covert operations we will never know about. We as humans screw up all the time and make mistakes. We need to listen with our hearts more and push out the greed. Helping each other would change things in many ways, but will a country let alone the world every be unified like that in love and harmony? I am an optimist and would like to say yes but the reality is many many many people are selfish and not just with their money but with their love, their sexual needs, their time, and their resources. It is all there loud and clear and yes we all are to blame for something.
