Beautiful Woman

Beautiful Woman

A Poem by SpokenWord
"

What do you see when you look into a mirror?

"
What lies in the mind of a beautiful woman
who can see beauty even in darkness
but is blind to the beauty that resides
inside her heart and streams out her flesh
like sweet ambrosia from Goddess Venus
humbling men to the point of speechlessness
stealing his confidence from a single glance
but when she looks in the mirror
she doesn't see beauty
she sees instead
imperfections

What lives in the heart of a beautiful woman
who decides that a man with a knife
can re-create her more perfectly
than the God who gave her life
as if each breathe she takes
is into a body that is some how
not worthy to be considered God's temple
When she looks in the mirror
she doesn't see perfection
she sees instead
eyes that should be blue
lips that are too thin
a nose that is too thick
breast that are too small
a stomach that isn't flat
who told her beauty is shallow
and not diverse in nature?

What possess the soul of a beautiful woman
who is told by others of her beauty
and instead of her recognizing it with a thank you
she rejects them with an explanation
of why she isn't beautiful in the first place
as if beauty isn't in the eye of the beholder

Beauty comes from inside of us
and is expressed outside ourselves
what we think in our minds
and what we believe in our hearts
will live in our soul and be
reflected in the reflection
of self image in the mirror

Ask yourself
what is beauty anyway?

beauty isn't skin deep..and we all have to wake up and embrace this fact..perfection is just a notion..and may be everyone's perfect the way they are..and there is absolutely no need to improvise perfection..is there?

Your poem reached out to me, I find all your work outstanding. This, for example, talks about the struggle of someone who just doesn't like there looks- despite what people tell them. Amazing.

Even though this is a small piece..I feel as though these issues have been brewing inside of you for a long time. You left no stone unturned. Confidence and intelligence always wins out in the long run. It reminds me of a friend who once said she could care less about what another woman looks like...the only woman who worries her is the one who is making her boyfriend laugh.

Beauty is never truely found in the outward apperance that fades with time, but that which lies deep inside, it shines out of eyes that sparkle, out of the mouth with gentle and tender words often spoken, it's in her embrace and the touch of her hand, it's always in the eyes of those that love her...............I like a poem that makes me think, well done

This expressed so well the self-doubt that assails us when we look at ourselves... and how true is your understanding of beauty... It is what we take delight in...

I would be pleased if you would take a look at this poem I wrote a while back:

A true beautiful woman never sees her beauty, it all comes naturally inside and out leaving everyone else to admire what she'll never see.

I love it. It talks about aesthetics, paranoia and self-image in such a beautiful way. The lines flow so easily for the reader. I really like the theme of the 'struggle against yourself' (which funny enough is the title of one of my writings) and you wrote about it very nicely.

This poem...Thats what beauty is. I felt beautiful reading it. You have a wonderful understanding of both women and beauty.

I loved this...I bet your a wonderful ladies man, not shallow with high expectations of what a woman should look like, but what she is meant to look like. I myself struggle with this on a day to day basis, sometimes I to hell with everyone else and their opinions because I love my body and other times I feel so dejected and miserable and just hate what I look like...I could use someone a little encouragement of this sort in my life now and again. Thanks for sharing!
