I'm No Superhero

I'm No Superhero

A Poem by Spoken

For a man who sees through everything
I couldn’t see your hand slipping
Moving down to your side
Wishing I was stronger
Than any man could be

My eyes may burn through steel
But I can't get through to you
I reach in like jesus walks on water
but your mind is my criptonite
I can not read you when I’m blind

she shakes her head
as her eyes drop
I watch her turn and the world stops
She’s walking away
I jump up and the earth shakes
But even with all my might
I couldn’t stop her heart from fighting
She leaves like superwoman flies
Killing me with her powerful goodbyes

I don’t want to be your superman
A hero is one thing
I’ve never been mistaken for
Call me all the names you desire
But don’t tell me I’m your spiderman
I can not live like that again

Very well done from a male perspective. There is a sad truth to your introspection, clever execution ~ I read it twice as I assumed "I" was female. ;-) I think they return the favor in kind, too!

I like your style. Enjoyable read.

You are such a divine poet. You see things, too.
