Please My Baby

Please My Baby

A Poem by Spoken
"

This is lyrical.. dare I say I wrote a song? Anyway, got inspiration from watching the T.V. show "intervention"

"

I don't wanna be the one to say

I gave up on my dreams today

can you do it for me?

Can you say goodbye my baby?

Look at me

don't tell me what you see

I don't wanna hear I gave up on my dreams

I don't wanna hear you love me

look at that picture on the wall

That's me when I had it all

Throw a blanket over the mirror

somehow it makes my sight so much clearer

I'm lost

I'm gone

I don't wanna be the one who walks away

leave before I take you with me

leave before you love me

I don't wanna be the one to say

I gave up on my dreams today

can you do it for me?

can you say goodbye my baby?

Please say goodbye my baby..

this definitely is lyrical - I can hear this as a song so easily. so sad - I read the piece before I read what inspired it - which made it all the more sad and poignant. My cousin, had so much talent - musician, singer - beautiful girl - overdosed on heroin at 35 - died having done nothing with her life but the drugs that killed her - so tragic. that line "I don't want to say, I gave up on my dreams today" just touches me and rings so true.
