Reflection

Reflection

A Poem by Ryan

It is not un-common to fear death,

because no one can know how much time is left.

You saw Hell through my eyes,

and the blank expression upon your face asked, Why?

Why am I the blackness you see?

Is it because the lord doesn't care for me?

He is in heaven living the good life,

while I am in Hell, Where i must constently struggle and fight.

The Lord and I exchange punches to the face,

the whole wrold can feel our tension and hate.

But after all the fighting God stands up and laughs.

It seems God felt no pain after are fights aftermath.

Yet I lay bloodied, battered, and bruised

God laughs and says "Ryan you're a fool."

Then in a flash God has dissapeared

and I am left standing, looking at my bloodied reflection in the mirror.

And there in the cornor lays a note.

It says, "To: Ryan, From God.....With Hope"

You cannot fight God can't you see?

Because God is a reflection of you and Me.

Powerful. The last two lines are my favorite. What poetry: "You cannot fight God can't you see? Because God is a reflection of you and Me." I'm speechless.

Hey -- you back on campus this semester??? Hope to see you around!

Beautiful! I enjoy the personal quality of writing yourself into the poem very much, as this poem is true for all people. Now if only I could learn the lesson from it.
